Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns Betting Preview

Monday Night Football features an AFC North battle, as the Baltimore Ravens (7-5) will battle with the Cleveland Browns (9-3) at FirstEnergy Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 pm ET.

At 7-5, the Baltimore Ravens sit in third in a loaded division. The Ravens finally snapped a three-game losing streak as they beat the Dallas Cowboys, 34-17, this last Tuesday. After also battling COVID-19 issues over the last couple of weeks, the Ravens hope they can refocus on the final four weeks and making a push in the division and into the playoffs.

For the first time in over a decade, the Cleveland Browns have guaranteed a record over .500. That isn’t enough for these Browns, though, as they have their sights on catching the Pittsburgh Steelers, who they are just a couple of games behind. After beating the TennesseeTitans 41-35 last week, the Browns have won four in a row and are locked and loaded to keep it going at home Monday.

Despite being the road team, the Baltimore Ravens are the favorites in this one. They are currently -176 to win while the Browns’ moneyline is +148. The spread features the Browns +3 while the over/under for total points is 45.5.

By The Numbers

Offensively, these two teams have been pretty much even this season—the Ravens rank 13th in scoring as they average 26.3 points per game. The Browns rank 15th, averaging 25.5 points.

Defensively, the Ravens advantage is a little more substantial. They rank 4th overall in scoring defense as they are allowing just 19.2 points per game to opponents. The Browns fall to 22nd, allowing 26.8 points to opponents.

Baltimore Looking To Close Gap On Browns

Just like the Browns are chasing the Steelers for first in the division, the Ravens are chasing the Browns for second. In the last ten games between these two, the Ravens have won eight, so their confidence should be high.

Leading the way for the Ravens is quarterback Lamar Jackson. On the season, he has thrown for 2,055 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He has also rushed 116 times for 669 yards and another four scores.

The top two receivers for Jackson has been Marquise Brown and tight end Mark Andrews. Brown has 41 catches for 555 yards and four touchdowns on the year, while Andrews has 38 receptions for 454 yards and six touchdowns.

The Ravens have one of the top defenses in the NFL yet again this year. They are led by Marlon Humphrey and Patrick Queen (55 tackles each), Yannick Ngakoue (6 sacks), and Pierre Desir and Marcus Peters (3 interceptions each.

Browns Looking To Confirm They Are For Real

Despite an impressive 9-3 record, there remains a lot of doubt about the Browns’ organization because, well, they are the Browns. For over a decade, they have brought nothing but heartache to their fans, but quarterback Baker Mayfield and company are out to prove they are for real.

Speaking of Mayfield, he has had a nice season this year. Thus far, he has thrown for 2,442 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. His leading receiver has been Jarvis Landry, who has 54 catches for 676 yards and two touchdowns.

Unfortunately for the Browns, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that they are likely without tight end Austin Hooper due to a neck injury. He has 286 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Their biggest weapon is their two-headed monster in the backfield of Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb. Hunt has rushed 171 times for 739 yards and four touchdowns. He also has 25 receptions for 175 yards and another four scores. Chubb has 133 rushes for 799 yards and seven touchdowns.

Taking Cleveland And The Points

Don’t get me wrong, after battling COVID-19 issues the Ravens are closer to full strength and ready to start rolling again. With that being said, their only win in the last five games is against an awful Cowboys team.

There is something to be said about momentum, and the Browns have a lot more of it than the Ravens. I wouldn’t blame you for taking Baltimore, but for my money, I will take Cleveland playing at home and being spotted the three points.
