Chicago White Sox at Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

The Chicago White Sox remain in Atlanta on Saturday for the second game of a three-game weekend series against the Braves. Atlanta won the first game of the series, getting started right away with four runs in the first inning.

The Braves are now 61-29 on the season, running away with first place in the National League East. The loss for the White Sox dropped them to 38-55. That’s fourth place in the American League Central.

The Atlanta Braves are big favorites in this game. Atlanta is listed at -300 over the White Sox. Chicago is at +250 as an underdog. If you want a little less, you can grab Atlanta at -1.5 runs for -150. The total for this game on Saturday is listed at 8.5 runs.

Lynn Looks to Get on Track

Lance Lynn is projected to get the start for the Chicago White Sox. Lynn is likely to be traded by the end of the month to a team needing pitching help. The veteran right-hander is 5-8 on the season with a 6.03 earned run average. Lynn does have 127 strikeouts on the season, to just 36 walks.

There is not much to say about the Chicago White Sox other than they have been disappointing all season. The White Sox will likely unload a bunch of players at the deadline in a couple of weeks. Chicago has the 29th-best OBP this season at .296. The team batting average is 23rd in baseball at .237.

There has not even been a ton of player success out of the White Sox, with the exception of maybe Luis Robert Jr. And now, he is out after getting hurt in the home run derby. Robert came into the All-Star Break with hits in his last four games and 10 out of his last 11 overall.

Braves Loaded from Top to Bottom

The party got started on Friday in the first inning with a grand slam from Matt Olson. Olson continues to mash in the middle of the Braves lineup, now with 30 home runs on the season. Those were also his 73rd, 74th, 75th, and 76th RBIs of the season. Ronald Acuna Jr continues to be red hot, as he walked twice in the game and is hitting .330 on the season.

The Braves are doing much of their damage this year with a down year from Michael Harris II. He did double for the 11th time this season on Friday and drove in a run. Ozzie Albies also drove in three runs for the Braves as well. Atlanta comes in as the top home run hitting team in all of Major League Baseball.

Spencer Strider will get the start for Atlanta. Strider is a candidate for National League Cy Young with his season so far. The 24-year-old right-hander is 11-2 on the season with a 3.44 earned run average. Strider is one of the best strikeout pitchers in all of Major League Baseball, with 166 in 104.2 innings this season.

Atlanta Continues to Roll

Strider is tough to beat. Lance Lynn is fun and can pitch lights out at times, but the Atlanta lineup is too talented and too deep. Look for the Braves to grind away and win this game. We will take the Braves to win by two or more runs here. Betting the Braves -1.5 (-150) over the White Sox is the bet to take here.
