Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants Betting Preview

Monday Night Football pits NFC East rivals against one another as the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) take on the New York Giants (2-0). The Giants will host this one at MetLife Stadium, with kickoff set for 8:15 pm ET.

The Giants come in as slight favorites playing at home. They are -112 to win, while the Cowboy’s moneyline sits at -108. The spread features Dallas +1 (-115), and the over/under for total points is 39.

Cowboys Look For Win Against Familiar Foe

After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1, the Cowboys were able to bounce back last week with a 20-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. They will look to make it two in a row as they travel to their division rivals.

With Dak Prescott out with a thumb injury, it was Cooper Rush who went under center last week against the Bengals. On the day, he went 19 for 31 for 235 yards and a touchdown. Noah Brown caught his lone touchdown pass as one of his five receptions for 91 yards.

On the ground, Ezekiel Elliott got the most carries as he had 15 rushes for 53 yards. It was Tony Pollard, though, that did the most damage as he went for 43 yards on nine carries (4.8 yards per carry) and added a touchdown.

Through two weeks, the defense ranks ninth in scoring defense as they are allowing opponents an average of just 18 points per game. The defensive unit is trying to build on last year’s success as they led the NFL in takeaways (1.9 per game).

Dallas will travel on the road for the first time this season, but they should come into this one with some confidence as they won both games against the Giants last year.

Giants Hope To Make It Three Wins In A Row

New head coach Brian Daboll has got to be happy with the results as the Giants, who only managed four wins last season, already have half that win total through two weeks. Still, even going against a Cowboys team without their starting quarterback available, the Giants will have their work cut out for them as they try to make it three in a row.

Under center for Daboll’s squad will be Daniel Jones. In last week’s 19-16 win over the Carolina Panthers, Jones threw for 176 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed ten times for 21 yards.

The biggest threat for the offense is the re-emergence of Saquon Barkley. After rushing for 164 yards and a score in Week 1, he rushed for 72 yards on 21 carries last week.

Like the Cowboys, the Giants’ defense is also tied for ninth, allowing just 18 points per game through two weeks.

Take Dallas On The Road

Expect both teams to really rely on the run game in this one. With Dak Prescott out, the Cowboys will really rely on Elliott and Pollard to handle a lot of the workload. On the flip side, the Giants have already shown that they are willing to feed Saquon Barkley early and often.

What this one might really come down to is the Giants’ ability to protect Daniel Jones when he does have to throw. The Cowboys rank third in the NFL, averaging four sacks per game (Micah Parsons and Dorance Armstrong Jr had two apiece last week). On the flip side, the Giants are tied for third in most sacks allowed at four per game.

Expect the defense to get after Daniel Jones in this one and take Dallas to win straight up at -102.
