Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview

The San Antonio Spurs don’t know what their seed will be to begin the playoffs, but they will be a part of the field. Dallas will be heading home to watch the games on TV, but the Mavericks will be playoff contenders again in the near future. There will be a special moment surrounding this game as it will be the final game that Dirk Nowitzki plays in his legendary career.

San Antonio brings a 47-34 record into this game and currently sit in the 7th position in the Western Conference. The Spurs are hoping to avoid Golden State in the first round, but they will be up for any challenge. Dallas has been playing decent basketball of late, but they are going to finish at least 20 games out of first place. San Antonio is a -13.0 point favorite in this game.

Aldridge Carrying Spurs Offense

Things haven’t always gone smoothly for LaMarcus Aldridge in his Spurs career, but it appears that he is starting to figure things out. Aldridge has been huge of late for the Spurs and is averaging 21.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game this season. Shooting guard DeMar DeRozan has also played very well in his first season with San Antonio, leading the team with 21.3 points and 6.2 assists per game. These two players will try to lead the Spurs to some upset wins in the playoffs.

The Spurs have been a pretty good defensive team all season long, and are allowing just over 110 points per night. They average just six steals per game as a team, but head coach Gregg Popovich always has them in the right spots. Look for the Spurs to start to shoot more three-pointers as the playoffs begin. San Antonio is shooting close to 40 percent from deep as a team, but are making less than 10 three’s per night.

Doncic Looks Like Future Star

The Dallas Mavericks went all in when selecting Luka Doncic in last year’s NBA Draft and it looks like it is going to pay off for them. Doncic is averaging 21.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists for this Mavericks team, and should be a perennial All-Star in future seasons. Dallas will also be adding Kristaps Porzingis to the mix next season, and these two players should enjoy terrific careers right beside each other.

Dallas is averaging just 109.0 points per game this season, and this isn’t a very good offense outside of Doncic. Dirk Nowitzki poured in 30 points in the final home game of his career, but he can hardly get up and down the floor. Look for Nowitzki to make a short cameo appearance in this game, but he won’t play a ton.

San Antonio Doesn’t Mess Around

Dallas and San Antonio have developed a nice rivalry throughout the years, but the Spurs clearly have the upper hand right now. The Mavericks would love to play the role of spoiler, but that’s not going to happen. San Antonio needs this victory, and they will waste no time in blowing out the Mavericks. Bet the Spurs -14.0 over the Dallas Mavericks in the season finale.
