Fans Are Betting On Madden Simulations

The coronavirus has given sports fans the opportunity to get creative with things to bet on. The newest idea is betting on simulations in the Madden NFL 20 video game.

For example, someone can select two actual teams to face off, then artificial intelligence takes over. It simulates every play and even takes weather conditions into consideration. Lines are generated just like ones that would be in a real football game such as the spread, over/under, and moneyline.

This online simulation differs from esports competitions. Esports is controlled by humans that play against each other on video games. These Madden simulations are entirely controlled by AI.

BetOnline is reporting plenty of action on the video game simulations. They told TMZ Sports, “We are getting as much action on them as an average non-nationally televised MLB game, believe it or not. Action keeps getting better daily.”

Bettors are told not to worry about anyone having a deciding factor in the outcome of the simulation. Rosters are set to exactly what they were at the end of the 2019 season, and games are simulated on the most difficult setting – All-Madden mode. These games are closest to the real thing that fans can get, actually playing 15-minute quarters.

These Madden simulations are also made to reflect the real thing. If a team has trouble with pass protection or running the ball, they will also have those same issues in the game. This allows bettors that have knowledge of the NFL to have success.

Here to Stay?

This is just one of many different ways that sports fans are trying to get through this quarantine. Table tennis, poker, and betting on politics are all things that have seen a rise of attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, some people believe that this simulation popularity is here to stay.

One rep told TMZ Sports, “I strongly believe simulated betting is here to stay, even once the big sports return.”

It’s hard to believe that this will remain popular once sports return. It’s easier to believe that sports betting will receive a massive upswing as soon as professional leagues make their return.

However, some of these creative ways to gamble aren’t going to just go away. It’s likely that the popularity will go down once the NFL season begins, but these simulations will, from now on, be familiar to football fans when football is in the offseason.

If this quarantine lasts much longer, it will be interesting to see if any other sports video games, such as NBA 2K, become just as popular.
