Fantasy Football Top Prospects
Many people have their fantasy football drafts just around the corner. The NFL is set to start on September 10th in Kansas City.
It’s time to take a look at those who might have a good year and those who might not.
Quarterbacks
The former Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes, is likely to be the first QB off the board in most leagues. He will have much of the same crew he did last season to make a run for another trip to the Super Bowl.
The former league MVP, Lamar Jackson, will also be taken much earlier than last season. Some people might have gotten him for a bargain last season, but he will go much earlier this time.
Cam Newton might be an exciting option late in the draft. It will be worth seeing if the former MVP can succeed in New England replacing Tom Brady. If the old Newton shows up to play, he is sure to stack up some points with the Patriots offense.
On the other hand, Brady has been one of the most successful quarterbacks, but not so much on the fantasy side. He hasn’t finished in the top ten as a fantasy quarterback over the past four years.
At 43-years-old and with a new team, no one should jump the gun too early on the Hall-of-Famer.
Running Backs
The opening pick in most drafts is at running back. RB is a very top-heavy position so people get in early on the cream of the crop.
The number one pick is likely to be Christian McCaffrey. He will be the workhorse for the Carolina offense and is a stat machine. McCaffrey is entering his prime as a running back and will be a trendy pick this year.
Ezekiel Elliot will be another one off the board quickly. This year, he won’t have the worries of sitting out several weeks to hold out for a contract. He can hit the ground running during week one.
After last season, more eyes will be on Derrick Henry. The question will be whether or not he will be able to post those same numbers as a year ago. Teams will be zeroed in on Henry this season.
Wide Receivers
The top wide receiver projection for 2020 is Michael Thomas. He has dominated in New Orleans, also getting help from a future hall of fame quarterback. Drew Brees is aging, though, so no one knows if the duo will be as effective as last season.
Odell Beckham Jr. has been a popular pick the past couple of years, but there are plenty of questions surrounding his tenure with the Browns. If Baker Mayfield and company can’t win games, it’s likely due to the lack of action that Beckham Jr. is getting.
Mike Evans has been one of the top receivers in the league for a couple of years. He has done that without consistent play from a quarterback. The addition of Brady should improve Evans’ numbers dramatically in 2020.
