FedExCup – BMW Championship Preview

The second-of-three playoff tournament for the PGA FedExCup is this weekend. The action will take place at Olympia Fields in Illinois from August 27th-30th.

The top 70 in the FedExCup rankings will play at Olympia Fields; then, the top 30 will advance to the Tour Championship.

Let’s take a look at the odds and who has a good chance of winning this weekend.

Dustin Johnson 8-1

The incredible odds for Dustin Johnson have everything to do with his dominant weekend at the Northern Trust. He won the tournament by 11 strokes, shooting 30-under par.

He ran away with the first tournament of the FedExCup playoffs and now sits on top of the leaderboard. He will be looking to keep that momentum to roll into the Tour Championship next weekend.

This course is elite, so it will take a good outing for players to score well. It also plays long, which is ideal for Johnson. He is expensive to take, but no one is playing better right now.

Justin Thomas 12-1

Justin Thomas was on top of the FedExCup rankings before Johnson won last weekend. He always plays well in these spots and has won in the FedExCup before, claiming the BMW Championship last year.

However, it has started to become a curse to win this championship, while not many who do end up winning the Cup.

He will be one to watch, as he always is.

Bryson DeChambeau 12-1

Many experts like Bryson DeChambeau this weekend because of the long course. No one on tour has been hitting the ball as long as he has.

He sits right up there among the FedExCup standings leaders and would love to jump a spot or two before the Tour Championship.

He had a dominant weekend on this course back in 2015 on the US Amateur Tour. He will have that experience of playing well at this course going into the BMW Championship.

Daniel Berger 22-1

Daniel Berger has been playing solid golf ever since the restart. He has finished in the top ten in seven of his last nine tournaments.

Berger won the Charles Schwab Invitational and had a runner up performance in the WGC St. Jude.

It’s a great time to hit a hot streak. With 22-1 odds, Berger might be the best value on the board for betting.

Tiger Woods 33-1

Tiger Woods struggled for the most part in the Northern Trust. He had an excellent final round but was still at the bottom of the leaderboard for those who made the cut.

Just because it’s Tiger, his odds still aren’t that bad. But they don’t indicate how he had been playing. Woods will have to come up and have a complete change in his putting game to make a run this weekend.

He makes the top 70 for the BMW Championship, but won’t make the top 30 for the Tour Championship without a great outing this weekend.
