Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-2) and the No. 15 Florida State Seminoles (3-0) will kick off ACC play against one another as they meet up on Tuesday. Florida State will be hosting this one at the Donald L. Tucker Center, with tipoff scheduled for 8:30 pm ET.
Since dropping their opener, 123-120, in overtime against Georgia State, the Yellow Jackets are 2-1 coming into this game. In their last matchup, they beat Nebraska 75-64 last Wednesday. Jose Alvarado led the way in the win with 24 points, while Moses Wright chipped in 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. They will now look to upset the Seminoles on the road.
Other than a close one over the Indiana Hoosiers (69-67), the No. 15 Florida State Seminoles have won with relative ease this season. They beat North Florida 86-58 and, in their last matchup, beat Florida 83-71. In that victory, M.J. Walker and Scottie Barnes each had 17, while Anthony Polite added 14. They are currently 3-0 as the home team and will look to keep that trend rolling Tuesday.
The Seminoles are the favorite in this one playing at home. They are currently -430 to win while the Yellow Jackets’ Moneyline is +340. The spread features Georgia Tech +8.5 while the over/under for total points is 141.5.
Georgia Tech Looking For Road Upset
Having already upset Kentucky this season, Georgia Tech knows it has the talent to run with most anyone they face. While the conference is loaded with good teams, it is questionable if any are truly dominant, giving Georgia Tech some hope as it looks for a road upset over the Seminoles.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets is forward, Moses Wright. The 6’9” senior forward has had a great start to the season as he has averaged 21.3 points, ten rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks in four games.
He isn’t the only one performing, though. Jose Alvarado (17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, four assists, 2.3 steals), Bubba Parham (13 points, 3.3 rebounds), Michael Devoe (12.5 points, six rebounds), and Jordan Usher (11 points, 5.8 rebounds) have all been solid.
With five players averaging double digits, it is no wonder why they rank 18th in the nation in scoring averaging 86.8 points per game. Granted, some of that was due to the 120 output they had in the opening loss, but this team can still score in bunches.
Seminoles Hope To Start ACC Schedule On Good Note
After starting the season ranked 22nd in the nation, the Seminoles have moved up seven spots and look to keep ascending. With the ACC up for grabs, the Seminoles have as good a chance as any to take it all.
Despite only being a freshman, 6’9” freshman guard Scottie Barnes is turning heads. It is for this reason that many project him as a lottery pick in next year’s draft. Through three games, he is averaging 11.3 points, four rebounds, and 5.3 assists. He seemed to find another gear in his last game against Florida, though, as he put up 17 with five assists.
Other notable threats include M.J. Walker (17.7 points), Balsa Koprivica (10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, one block), Anthony Polite (10 points, 5.3 rebounds), and RaiQuan Gray (8.3 points, 7.3 rebounds).
One thing Florida State definitely has going for them is their size. Of the players mentioned above, Walker is the shortest at 6’5,” and they have eight players on their team who are 6’8” or taller.
Taking Florida State To Win And Cover
If Moses Wright goes off, it could be anyone’s game, but I think this one will come down to the size of Florida State and their ability to win the battle of the boards on both ends of the court.
Furthermore, while Wright is a fantastic player, Florida State will have the best player on the floor in Scottie Barnes. For my money, I am taking Florida State not only to win but to cover the 8.5 points as well.
