Golden State Warriors at Dallas Mavericks Game 4 Betting Preview

Each matchup in the Western Conference Finals will be an elimination game from here on out, as the Golden State Warriors have taken a 3-0 lead over the Dallas Mavericks.

Dallas wasn’t worried as they had fallen down 0-2 to Phoenix and rallied to tie things up 2-2 back at home, but Sunday’s loss changed things a bit.

The Warriors are on the verge of a sweep and then a decent rest prior to the NBA Finals, as it looks like Miami and Boston are headed for a long series in the East. Golden State wasn’t fazed by the raucous American Airlines Center crowd – and actually fed off them at times.

Despite Golden State looking real good on Sunday night, Dallas is still a -1 point favorite in Game 4.

Warriors Try to Apply the Finish

For the conspiracy theorists that know the NBA and TV ratings love a longer series, and Golden State maybe wants to win the Western Conference back at home on Thursday, maybe it could look like Game 4 is going to go Dallas’ way. That being said, how do you go against the Warriors right now?

Golden State is just 6-4 in Game 4 situations when up 3-0 under coach Steve Kerr. One of those was a 126-121 loss to Denver in the first round of this year’s playoffs, but with Steph Curry scoring 31 in Game 3, with Andrew Wiggins adding 27, and Klay Thompson 19, this is a team playing fast, fun, and free.

Time to Make History

Dallas has a bit of a task ahead of them as no team in NBA history has ever come back from an 0-3 deficit to win a playoff series. The Mavericks got down early in Game 3 only to fight back and take a 9-point lead at one point, but not being able to hold on to that margin even in front of a home crowd is a bit concerning.

Luka Doncic had 40 points on Sunday, but his most memorable moment of the game was getting posterized on a Wiggins dunk. Doncic also had 42 in Game 2 and 45 in the series opener last round against Phoenix – but those were all Mavericks’ losses. What Dallas really needs is balance.

Warriors/Mavericks Betting Prediction

Golden State has so many ways to kill a team; that’s why they’re such a tough team to bet against. If Curry is cold, then Thompson, Wiggins, Jordan Poole, or even Kevon Looney (21 and 12 in Game 2) can step up and lead the Warriors to finish the sweep.

Ultimately though, Dallas puts up a strong fight on Tuesday night. Golden State would love one more home playoff game revenue check and are going to have a long rest whether they win in Game 4 or on Thursday night because the Celtics and Heat are battling in the East. Dallas gets their one win here before being finished off on Thursday.

Pick: Dallas Mavericks -1
