Indiana Fever at Connecticut Sun Betting Pick

A pair of WNBA teams will start their season on Tuesday, as the Indiana Fever take on the Connecticut Sun. This is part of a four pack of games to open the 2024 season.

A season ago, the Indiana Fever were one of the worst teams in all of the WNBA. The Fever went 13-27 overall and 5-15 against teams from the Eastern Conference. Indiana has higher expectations for this season, as they added the top pick in the draft in Caitlin Clark.

For the Connecticut Sun, they are looking to take their season to the next level. They went 27-13 a season ago, and won 14 out of 20 games against the Eastern Conference. The Sun are one of the favorites out of the East this season.

Connecticut is -5.5 at home in this game. The total for this affair is set at 170.5 points.

Buzz for the Fever

The big buzz with the Indiana Fever, and really all over the WNBA is Caitlin Clark. The former Iowa Star played her first preseason game at home and had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The Fever saw four players score double digits in that preseason win.

The regular season is going to be a new story. She is going to have to mix with Aliyah Boston, the former South Carolina star. Boston will roam the middle of the lane for the Fever. The top scorer in the game on Thursday was NaLyssa Smith. He scored 21 points, and recorded 6 rebounds.

It has been a tough go for the Fever the last several seasons. The Fever have not had a .500 or better season since the 2016 season when they went 17-17. Indiana won 13 games a season ago, and the previous three seasons they won 17 combined games.

Sun Shining Bright

On the other side, the Connecticut Sun have been a successful franchise for many years. The Sun won 27 games a season ago, which was their most in franchise history. But, it was also the third straight season with 25+ wins, and six out of the last seven with 20+ wins.

The Sun played a preseason game to finish their slate, and Rachel Banham led them off the bench with 20 points. DeWanna Bonner added 16 in the game as well. A season ago, Bonner led the team with 17.4 points per game. The 35 year old played in all 40 games for Connecticut.

Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and Tiffany Hayes were all scoring in double digits last season. Jones scored 15.9, Thomas 15.5 and Hayes 12.1 per game.

Sun Top Fever

We like the Connecticut Sun to come away with the win. Do not be surprised if the Fever battles through the game, but in the end, the Sun comes out on top and wins this game.

Our final bet for this WNBA battle is the Connecticut Sun -5.5 over the Indiana Fever. We are excited for the season to begin and wish you all the best of luck!
