Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cincinnati Bengals Betting Preview

Two AFC powerhouses will battle Sunday afternoon as the Kansas City Chiefs (11-4) square off with the Cincinnati Bengals (9-6). The Bengals will host this one at Paul Brown Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 pm ET.

Kansas City comes into this one having won eight straight games, including a 36-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.

In the win, Patrick Mahomes threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns.

Byron Pringle was the most productive of Mahomes’ receivers last week, having caught six passes for 75 yards and two scores.

The Bengals also come in on a bit of a hot streak as they have won two straight games. Last week, they beat the Baltimore Ravens 41-21.

Joe Burrow was remarkable in the victory as he threw for 525 yards and four touchdowns. Tee Higgins had 12 receptions for 194 yards and two scores.

The Chiefs are favored in this one despite playing on the road. They are -210 to win while the Bengals’ Moneyline sits at +176. The spread features Cincinnati +4.5 (-105), and the over/under for total points is 51 (-110).

More Odds

The Chiefs are the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season at +400. The Bengals are +2600 to win Super Bowl LVI.

By The Numbers

Both of these teams rank in the top-10 in terms of scoring. The Chiefs rank fourth, averaging 28.1 points per game (31 on the road). The Bengals rank seventh, averaging 27.3 points.

Defensively, it is again the Chiefs that hold the advantage. They rank tied for fifth in scoring defense, allowing opponents to average just 20.4 points per game (24.7 on the road). The Bengals rank 13th, allowing 21.6 points per game (26.1 at home).

Chiefs Trying To Secure Top Seed In AFC

If the playoffs started today, the Chiefs would hold the top seed in the AFC, meaning they would get a bye in the first round. With the Titans just a game behind them, the Chiefs still need to finish the regular season strong.

Luckily for Chiefs’ fans, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have one of his favorite targets back Sunday. After missing last week due to COVID-19 protocols, tight end Travis Kelce will be back on the field this week.

Kelce has 83 receptions for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.

While Kelce returns, the Chiefs lose another asset as running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is out with a collarbone issue.

Still, the Chiefs offense should be just fine with Mahomes under center.

He has thrown for 4,310 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions this season. He has been better as of late, as only three of those interceptions have come in the last seven games.

Bengals Trying To Hold Division Lead

With their win over the Baltimore Ravens last week, the Bengals were able to sweep the season series against their division rivals and secure a solid lead in the AFC North. With a win in either of the next two weeks, the Bengals would secure a division win.

The Bengals’ resurgence this year is in large part due to the play of quarterback Joe Burrow. He has thrown for 4,165 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Due to his strong play, he trails only Dak Prescott in odds to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year at +500.

Burrow has a pair of receivers that he leans heavily on from game to game. Both Jamarr Chase (68 receptions, 1,163 yards, ten touchdowns) and Tee Higgins (71 receptions, 1,029 yards, six touchdowns) have been fantastic this year.

On the ground, the Bengals’ offense is led by Joe Mixon. In 15 games, Mixon has rushed 280 times for 1,159 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also has 274 receiving yards and another three scores through the air.

Take The Bengals And The Points

This is a matchup that will be really interesting to see play out. While the Chiefs’ scoring defense ranks pretty high, they are just 25th against the pass (allowing 245.7 passing yards per game).

Going against a strong passing game in the Bengals is one exciting matchup to watch.

On the flip side, the Bengals also struggle against the pass, ranking 29th overall (252.8 yards allowed per game). If both quarterbacks have time, this one could turn into a shootout.

Interestingly, Cincinnati has been mediocre at home at just 4-4, but expect them to be ready to play in what could be a playoff preview.

It is worth noting that the Bengals will definitely have the stronger rushing attack in this one, which may assist Cincinnati in keeping Mahomes off the field.

At the end of the day, this should be a fun matchup and one that remains close throughout. For that reason, take Cincinnati and the 4.5 points.
