Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview
Saturday Night in the National Football League will see a preseason game between a pair of West Coast teams. The Las Vegas Raiders are at SoFi Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Rams. The Raiders won their preseason opener last week at home against the San Francisco 49ers.
For the Rams, they are looking to bounce back following their loss at home to the Chargers. The Las Vegas Raiders are the favorite in this game. The Raiders are listed at -3.5, with a total for this game at 39.5.
Rams Looking to Fill the Pieces
The Los Angeles Rams are looking to fill the pieces up from what they need to fill for the season. The Rams do still have Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp.
Stafford was hurt for much of the season, playing in just nine games. Baker Mayfield and John Wolford also filled in the gaps under center. The Rams are hoping the combination of Stafford to Kupp is one they can rely on all season.
Kupp missed several games; in fact, he played in just nine a season ago. He still finished with 812 yards and six touchdowns. The ground game will be run by Cam Akers, as Darrell Henderson has moved on.
Akers rushed for 786 yards in 15 games a season ago. The Rams, in the preseason opener, saw Zach Evens and Ronnie Rivers get most of the carries. They combined for 14 rushes and 65 yards.
The receiving game was anchored by Tyler Johnson, with five receptions and 70 yards. Puka Nacua was the lone touchdown recipient in the air, while Royce Freeman rushed for one.
Jimmy Garoppolo Under Center in Vegas
Jimmy Garoppolo is the new starting quarterback in Las Vegas. The Raiders hope his ability to get the ball out and on time brings out the best from speedy receiver DeVante Adams. Adams picked up over 1,500 receiving yards a season ago.
What the Raiders will be missing, at least until they can get the agreement done, is Josh Jacobs. Jacobs was the leading rusher a season ago, with over 1,600 yards on the ground.
In the preseason opener, the Raiders did not use Garoppolo against his former teammates. Instead, Aidan O’Connell was strong, with 141 passing yards and a touchdown. Chase Garbers also came in the game and threw a touchdown pass as well.
Keelan Cole Sr and Cole Fotheringham combined for 11 receptions, 100 yards, and Cole got into the end zone. Sincere McCormick also scored a touchdown catch as well.
The Raiders will wrap up their preseason schedule next week at Dallas against the Cowboys. Then, Vegas will head out on the road for the first two weeks of the season. The Raiders are at the Denver Broncos and then out to Buffalo to take on the Bills.
The first home game for the Raiders will come on September 24th on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Raiders Stay Hot; win on the Road
Sean McVay knows he has his hands full with this team. This is a young, inexperienced Los Angeles Rams team.
This is a long way from the Super Bowl Champion team he had a couple of seasons ago. The Rams are going to need some work before the start of the season to get on track. This is not the game to do that.
The Raiders are going to come to Los Angeles and win this game over the Rams. The best bet to make in this game is the Las Vegas Raiders -3.5 over the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.
