Los Angeles Chargers at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

In a battle of Los Angeles, the Chargers are at the Rams in preseason play on Saturday. SoFi Stadium, which is the home of both teams, will be the home for this game. A season ago, the Chargers reached the postseason with their 10-7 mark.

The Chargers finished second in the AFC West but lost in the first round to the Jaguars. For the Los Angeles Rams, they had a horrible 2022 season. The Rams finished third in the NFC West with a 5-12 record. That was only ahead of the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional race.

The Los Angeles Rams come into this game at -3. The total for this game is listed at 33. The moneyline, if you are interested in the Chargers, is listed at +136.

Rams Looking to Rebuild

Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams are a season removed from winning the Super Bowl. The Rams still have Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp in the offense, but the rest of the roster has been pretty made up. Kupp only played nine games a season ago but still led the team in receptions and yards. He was ahead of Tyler Higbee and a trio of receivers.

The running game is going to turn to Cam Akers and Kyren Williams this season. Akers missed a pair of games a season ago, and he fell 214 yards shy of 1,000 on the season. Akers should get the bulk of the carries, but Williams came onto his own a bit late last season.

The Rams start their regular season with back-to-back divisional games. Los Angeles is at Seattle in Game 1 before hosting the 49ers in Game 2.

Chargers Seeking Next Step

Brandon Staley is a bit on the hot seat this season, as the loss in the postseason did not set well with the Chargers and their ownership. Justin Herbert is also getting looks as a possible MVP candidate this season. A year ago, Herbert tossed for more than 4,700 yards and 25 touchdowns a season ago.

Also returning for the Chargers are Austin Ekeler, Keelan Allen, and Mike Williams. Those three guys make up one of the best trios in all of the National Football League on the offensive side. Allen played just ten games a season ago but finished with 752 receiving yards. The Chargers saw Ekeler play every game a season ago and coming up with more than 1,600 all-purpose yards.

The Chargers host the Miami Dolphins on opening day and then head out on the road to both Tennessee and Minnesota before coming back home to take on the Raiders on October 1st before their bye week.

Chargers Top Rams in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Rams are going to play a ton of guys that are inexperienced. Now, so are the Chargers, but the Rams have a ton of turnover on their roster. At least the Chargers have some experienced guys that will get some time in this one.

No home-field advantage here, so taking who the better team is going to be in 2023 is the way to go for our bet. In the end, we are betting the Los Angeles Chargers +3 and also betting them via the moneyline.

Taking the Chargers +136 is another choice, and also going to take the OVER 33. Chargers win this game 20-14 over the Rams.
