Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres Betting Pick

In the third game of the four-game series between National League West rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers are at the San Diego Padres on Sunday Night Baseball. The Dodgers won the first game of the series 10-5 on Friday night. The Padres came from behind to beat the Dodgers on Saturday.

The loss for the Dodgers dropped them to 63-46, but they are still in first place in the division. For the Padres, they are now 55-56 and within striking distance of the National League wildcard still. San Diego is now just 30-26 at home.

The Dodgers are -120 in this game. The Padres are +100. The total for this game is listed at 9.5.

Lynn Gets Start for Dodgers

The Dodgers are going to send 36-year-old Lance Lynn to the mound in this game. The right-hander from Indiana was with the White Sox for the first half of the year and was traded just before the deadline. This will be his second start with Los Angeles. His first went seven innings, allowing three runs over five hits.

The Dodgers, with the combination of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman in the middle of the lineup, have been dynamite. Betts is up to .286 following two hits on Saturday, while Freeman leads the team with a .337 average. The Dodgers only got four outs from their starter Michael Grove, so they had to rely on the bullpen to pick up the final 23.

The bullpen could not get the final five outs, as they blew the lead in the 8th inning. Yency Almonte allowed a hit and walked two, and took the loss, while Caleb Ferguson could not earn the hold.

The Dodgers will finish this series in San Diego on Monday before heading to Arizona for two quick games. Following that, the Dodgers go back to Los Angeles for a ten-game home stand. Colorado, Milwaukee, and Miami will all come to town. The next road trip for the Dodgers starts August 22nd in Cleveland.

Hill Takes the Mound for Padres

The 43-year-old Rich Hill is going to get the baseball for the San Diego Padres. This will be his first start with his new teammates. Hill came over from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

His final start with them was five innings and two runs allowed. This will be the 22nd start of the season for Hill. In Saturday’s win, Nick Martinez picked up his fifth win of the season.

San Diego has seen the first full season with Juan Soto come with mixed reviews. Soto was discussed to be traded at the deadline, but the Padres elected to hold on and buy.

Soto has been the Padres’ top power guy, with 24 home runs and 74 runs batted in. Soto had the big hit in the come-from-behind win on Saturday, driving in three.

The Padres will look to get back in the final six weeks of the season. San Diego, following this series, will play at Seattle for two games before Arizona for three next week.

The Padres are then home for a ten-game home stand with visits from the Orioles, Diamondbacks, and Marlins in there. The next road trip for the Padres is August 25th in Milwaukee.

Dodgers Win Sunday Night Baseball

The Dodgers are going to win this game again. The Los Angeles offense is going to get to Rich Hill, and we expect another solid outing from Lance Lynn.

Los Angeles has the bats to score several early and cruise to the win. Taking the Dodgers -120 over the Padres is the way to go with this one.
