Lynn Gets Start for Dodgers

The Dodgers, with the combination of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman in the middle of the lineup, have been dynamite. The Dodgers only got four outs from their starter Michael Grove, so they had to rely on the bullpen to pick up the final 23.

The 43-year-old Rich Hill is going to get the baseball for the San Diego Padres. This will be his first start with his new teammates. Hill came over from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
His final start with them was five innings and two runs allowed. This will be the 22nd start of the season for Hill. In Saturday’s win, Nick Martinez picked up his fifth win of the season.
San Diego has seen the first full season with Juan Soto come with mixed reviews. Soto was discussed to be traded at the deadline, but the Padres elected to hold on and buy.
Soto has been the Padres’ top power guy, with 24 home runs and 74 runs batted in. Soto had the big hit in the come-from-behind win on Saturday, driving in three.
The Padres will look to get back in the final six weeks of the season. San Diego, following this series, will play at Seattle for two games before Arizona for three next week.
The Padres are then home for a ten-game home stand with visits from the Orioles, Diamondbacks, and Marlins in there. The next road trip for the Padres is August 25th in Milwaukee.
