Los Angeles Rams at New York Giants Betting Preview

It will be an NFC matchup of West versus East on Sunday as the Los Angeles Rams (4-1) square off with the New York Giants (1-4). The Giants will host this one at Metlife Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 pm ET.

After suffering their first loss of the season in Week 4, the Rams bounced back last week in a 26-17 road victory over the Seattle Seahawks. In the win, Matthew Stafford threw for 365 yards and a touchdown, while both Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel had rushing touchdowns.

The Giants had a much rougher Week 5 as they lost to the Dallas Cowboys 44-20 on the road. The big story in this one was injuries as both quarterback Daniel Jones (concussion) and running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) were knocked out of the game.

Los Angeles is the heavy favorite despite playing on the road. They are -420 to win while the Giants’ moneyline sits at +330. The spread features New York +9.5 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 48.5.

More Odds

In terms of winning the Super Bowl, the Rams have the fourth-best odds at +1000. The Giants are significant longshots at +55000 to win Super Bowl LVI.

By The Numbers

The Rams are 4-1 in their last five games, and they are 14-5 in their last 19 against NFC opponents. Over their last seven games, six of them have seen the over hit.

In their last nine games, the Giants are 3-6 against the spread. They have also struggled in the month of October as they are 2-13 in their last 15 games in the month.

Rams Try To Pick Up Road Win As Favorites

The NFC West is an absolutely loaded division this season, and at 4-1, the Rams are trying to keep pace with the Arizona Cardinals (5-0). Trying to catch Arizona, the Rams will look to pick up a road win as the favorites.

Offensively, the Rams are led by quarterback Matthew Stafford. Thus far, he has flourished in Los Angeles as he has thrown for 1,587 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just three interceptions.

Stafford’s biggest targets have been wide receivers, Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods. Kupp leads the team with 37 receptions, 523 yards, and five touchdowns. Woods has 27 receptions for 322 yards and two scores.

Defensively, the Rams rank tied for 12th in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 23.2 points per game (20.5 on the road).

Injured Giants In Bad Spot Against Rams

The Giants are undoubtedly in a tough spot this week. Not only did they suffer injuries to two of their biggest offensive weapons in Week 5, but they welcome a really tough Rams team to town Sunday.

It will be interesting to see Daniel Jones’ availability this weekend. After having to leave the game with an obvious concussion against Dallas, he had been upgraded to a limited participant at practice as of Thursday. Still, he will have to be cleared by a third-party neurologist if he is able to play.

On the year, Jones has thrown for 1,282 yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception. He also leads the team in rushing with 197 yards and two scores.

The main ground threat, Saquon Barkley, is out for this game with an ankle injury.

If that wasn’t bad enough, their leading receiver, Kenny Golladay, is out for this game with a knee injury. Also, their second and third-leading receivers, Kadarius Toney (ankle) and Sterling Shephard (hamstring) are also questionable.

Needless to say, the ability (or inability) for some of these guys to play will have a huge effect on the overall chances of the Giants to pull out the upset.

Take The Rams To Win And Cover

Honestly, the Rams are just a significantly better football team than the New York Giants right now. Add the Giants’ injury woes, though, and this one could get ugly really quickly.

Expect the Rams to not only win this but to cover the 9.5-point spread, as well as they take it to a hobbled Giants team.
