Milwaukee Brewers at San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

Postseason hopefuls will square off in the finale of a four-game series Sunday as the Milwaukee Brewers (50-42) take on the San Francisco Giants (47-43). The Giants will host this one at Oracle Park, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:05 pm ET.

After the Brewers took the first game of the series, the Giants have won back-to-back games, including a 2-1 victory Saturday. In the win, Alex Cobb threw 7.1 innings, allowing one run (no earned) on four hits while striking out five.

The Giants only managed four hits, but one of them was a solo home run by Darin Ruf. Wilmer Flores was the only other player that scored for the Giants.

For Milwaukee, Eric Lauer pitched well, throwing seven innings and allowing just one run in two hits. He struck out four while walking three.

The Brewers tallied five hits, with Willy Adames having two of them. Hunter Renfroe scored the only run of the game for Milwaukee.

The Giants are the favorite playing at home Sunday. They are -161 to win while the Brewers’ moneyline sits at +148. The runline features Milwaukee +1.5 (-145), and the over/under for total runs is eight.

Brewers Riding Slump Into All-Star Break

At 50-42, the Milwaukee Brewers still lead the NL Central. However, having gone 3-7 in their last ten games, they find their lead in the division down to just one game over the Cardinals. On Sunday, they will try to finish the week on a high note and finish a road series split.

On the mound for the Brewers on Sunday will be lefty Aaron Ashby. In 17 games, he is 2-6 with a 4.37 ERA and 1.47 WHIP, and he has 81 strikeouts in 68 innings.

He took a no-decision in his last game against the Twins as he went 4.1 innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out five.

Leading the offense for Milwaukee is shortstop Willy Adames. In 273 at bats, he is hitting .216/.291/.465 with a team-leading 18 home runs. He also has 50 runs batted in and 47 runs scored.

Webb Looks To Finish Off The Series Win

Despite being over .500 on the season, the Giants still find themselves in a giant hole in the NL West. They currently sit in third in the division, 12.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.

As the San Francisco Giants look to finish off a series win, there may be no better pitcher to have on the mound than righty Logan Webb. In 18 games, Webb is 8-3 with a 2.82 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, and he has 96 strikeouts in 111.2 innings.

Webb dominated Arizona in his last start, picking up a win after going six scoreless innings and striking out eight. In his last three games combined, he has allowed just four earned runs in 20 innings.

Over the last couple of weeks, Wilmer Flores has been the Giants’ hottest hitter. In his last 43 at bats, he is hitting .302/.400/.674 with four home runs and ten runs batted in.

San Francisco Finishes Off Series Win

There is just a lot to like for San Francisco in this one. First, they have one of the best young arms in the game in Logan Webb, pitching for them. While Aaron Ashby has shown signs of brilliance, Webb has the consistency to make him the better option on the mound.

Furthermore, the Brewers have gone just 2-5 in their last seven games, and they are 1-4 in their last five against the Giants.

While they have a lot of work to do to chip away at their NL West deficit, the Giants are in good shape to pick up the win on Sunday.

Take San Francisco to win on the moneyline at -161.
