Milwaukee Bucks at Denver Nuggets Betting Preview

Monday features an East versus West matchup of playoff-contending teams as the Milwaukee Bucks (15-8) take on the Denver Nuggets (12-10). Denver will host this one at the Ball Arena, with tipoff scheduled for 9:30 pm ET.

Milwaukee has been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past week. Not only have they won four in a row, but they have won each of them by 18 points or more. On Saturday, they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-99 on the road. In the win, they had three players with 20 points or more (Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday).

Since winning five in a row, the Denver Nuggets have now lost three of their last four, including the last two in a row. On Saturday, they lost to the Sacramento Kings 119-114. In the loss, Nikola Jokic was amazing, going for 50 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists. Unfortunately, no other player had more than 14.

The Milwaukee Bucks are the favorites despite playing on the road. The spread features Denver +4.5 while the over/under for total points is 229.5.

By The Numbers

Offensively, the Milwaukee Bucks are the second-best team in the league in scoring. They are currently averaging 121.2 points per game. The Denver Nuggets are just one spot behind them, averaging 115.4 points per game.

Defensively, it is once again the Bucks who hold the advantage. They rank 13th overall in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 111.3 points per game (104.7 over the last three). The Nuggets rank 17th allowing 112.1 points per game.

Bucks Hoping To Keep Pace In The East

Just a game and a half behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks are looking to pick up as many wins as they can. To do so, they will have to play better on the road than their current road record (6-6) has reflected.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is once again making a case for league MVP this season for the Bucks. In 22 games, he is averaging 27.1 points on 56.1% shooting. He is also chipping in 11.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1 steal per game.

Khris Middleton is once again proving to be a great wingman for Giannis. On the season, Middleton is averaging 20.4 points, including shooting 46.5% from the three. He is also adding 6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.

Other contributors include Jrue Holiday (16.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists), Bobby Portis (11.2 points, 7.5 rebounds), and Brook Lopez (10.6 points, 5 rebounds).

Nuggets Trying To Overcome Injuries

Like Giannis, Nikola Jokic is playing at an MVP  level this season. Unfortunately, he can’t always do it alone, and the injury bug has hit the team recently. In fact, Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, P.J. Dozier, and Facundo Campazzo are all questionable for Monday.

Murray, who sat out Saturday’s game, would be the biggest blow if he can’t go. He is averaging 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

Nikola Jokic is the difference-maker for the Nuggets, though. On the season, he is averaging 27.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

Michael Porter Jr. has also been impressive this season. He is putting up 15.2 points per night on 51.5% shooting. He is also averaging 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.0-k

‘aking Bucks To Win And Cover

This one could come down to who can play and who can’t play for the Nuggets. Especially if Jamal Murray can’t go, this one might get lopsided for the Bucks.

As it is, I still like Milwaukee to win. Even though they have been just average on the road, they have been ridiculously hot as of late. I like Giannis Antetokounmpo to keep up his pace and the depth of the Bucks to win out. Take Milwaukee to win and cover.
