Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears Betting Preview

The NFC North will be on full display for Monday Night Football as the Minnesota Vikings (6-7) will square off with the Chicago Bears (4-9). The Bears will host this one at Soldier Field, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 pm ET.
After losing two in a row, the Vikings bounced back with a 36-28 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. In the win, Kirk Cousins threw for 216 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The biggest production for the Vikings came from running back Dalvin Cook. He rushed 27 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bears are currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak and have lost seven of their last eight. Last week, they lost 45-30 to the Green Bay Packers.
The Bears raced to a 27-21 lead at halftime, but they were only able to manage three points in the second half. Justin Fields threw for 224 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also led the team in rushing, going for 74 yards.
The Vikings are the favorites despite playing on the road. They are -290 to win while the Bears’ moneyline sits at +235. The spread features Chicago +6.5 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 44.5.
More Odds
Both of these teams are longshots to win the Super Bowl this season. The Vikings are +10000 to win it all while the Bears are +100000.
By The Numbers
The Vikings hold a significant advantage on the offensive side. They rank 10th in scoring averaging 26.5 points per game. The Bears rank 28th averaging 17.4.
Defensively, both of these teams rank in the bottom third. Chicago ranks 24th in scoring defense allowing opponents 25.5 points per game (22.8 at home). The Vikings rank 25th, allowing 25.6 points (29.4 on the road).
Vikings Trying To Stay In Playoff Hunt
At 6-7, the Vikings sit on the bubble of a Wild Card berth this season. Trying to stay in contention, they will look to take down the Bears, a team that they have gone just 1-5 against in their last six meetings.
Under center for the Vikings is veteran Kirk Cousins. This season, Cousins has thrown for 3,569 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Cousins’ favorite target through the air is Justin Jefferson.
He has caught 85 passes for 1,288 yards and eight touchdowns. His other favorite target, Adam Thielen, is questionable Monday with an ankle injury.
On the ground, the Vikings will look to Dalvin Cook to take over the game. In 10 games, Cook has rushed for 978 yards and six scores. He also has 219 yards receiving.
Bears Look To Pick Up Win Over Division Rival
With rumors continually swirling that the Bears may move in a new direction for their head coach and general manager after the offseason, the Bears don’t have a ton to play for as their playoff chances are essentially non-existent. Still, against a division rival, head coach Matt Nagy and the Bears will look to pick up their fifth win of the season.
Under center for Chicago is rookie quarterback Justin Fields. This season, Fields has thrown for 1,585 yards, six touchdowns, and ten interceptions in 11 games. He has also rushed for 385 yards and another couple scores.
The lead back for Chicago is David Montgomery. He has rushed 144 times for 608 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensively, the Bears will have to figure out ways to slow down Dalvin Cook. This season, they rank 23rd in rushing defense allowing opponents 120 rushing yards per game.
Take The Bears And The Points
On paper, this looks like a game that the Vikings should be able to take easily. For whatever reason, though, they have struggled against the Bears recently. Furthermore, Minnesota has struggled on the road this season, going just 2-5.
While the Vikings are still probably the best bet to win straight up, it wouldn’t be shocking if this one was close throughout. For that reason, take the Bears and the 6.5 points.
