Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
Thursday Night Football to start Week 2 of the National Football League will feature the Minnesota Vikings on the road at the Philadelphia Eagles. The Minnesota Vikings, who won the NFC North a season ago with 13 wins, are 0-1 to start the season.
Minnesota lost their season-opening game at home to Tampa Bay 20-17 on Sunday. For Philadelphia, the defending NFC Champions escaped with a 25-20 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Eagles come into this primetime game listed at -7.5 over the Vikings. The total for this affair is listed at 48.5 points.
Minnesota Needs to Clean it Up Quickly
Kirk Cousins was not super sharp in his season opener. The veteran quarterback threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns, but his interception, and his two lost fumbles were killer for the Minnesota offense. Justin Jefferson was his main target over and over in the loss. The former LSU standout caught 9 passes for 150 yards, but did not get into the end zone.
Speaking of endzone; Alexander Mattison and Jordan Addison were the two guys for Minnesota. Addison finished the game with four catches and 61 yards and the score in his rookie debut. TJ Hockenson, who projects to be one of the top tight ends in the league caught eight passes, but just 35 yards in the game.
The Vikings on the ground were not great. Minnesota carried the football 18 times for just 45 yards in the game.
Eagles Looking to Start 2-0
The Philadelphia Eagles got up 16-0 early in the game against the Patriots, and it looked like the blowout was on. After scoring no more first half points, and just a field goal in the third quarter, the game was a one score game. Jake Elliott finished the game with four field goals in the win. The lone offensive touchdown for the Eagles came when Jalen Hurts found Devonte Smith to make it 16-0.
The interception by Darius Slay in the first quarter set the tone. It put the Eagles up 10-0 early, and they never lost the lead. Philadelphia did allow Mac Jones to throw three passing touchdowns in the game.
Kenneth Gainwell led the Eagles in carries with 14. He finished with 54 yards. D’Andre Swift was missing from the action, as he got just one carry for three yards. AJ Brown led the receiving core with seven receptions and 79 yards. Smith had the lone touchdown, and also caught seven passes.
Eagles Smash Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have something going on that does not seem right. The Vikings won a ton of close games a season ago, and many wondered if they could continue to do that this season. The answer to start the season was NO.
The Philadelphia Eagles did not play a sharp game in Week One, but came away as the winner. The Eagles are very good football team, on both sides of the ball. Look for the Eagles to play a much better game, and Jalen Hurts to have a big day.
The Eagles are going to win this game, and win it with ease. Betting the Eagles -7.5 is the bet to make for Thursday Night Football.
