NCAAB: Fordham Rams vs. Dayton Flyers Betting Preview

The Fordham Rams (25-7) and Dayton Flyers (21-11) will square off in a semifinal matchup in the Atlantic 10 conference tournament Saturday afternoon. This game will be played at the Barclays Center, with tipoff scheduled for 3:30 pm ET.

The Flyers are the favorites in this one. They are -255 to win, while the Rams’ moneyline sits at +205. The spread features Fordham as 6.5-point underdogs (-115), and the over/under for total points is 130.5 (-110).

Fordham Looking For Better Showing Against Dayton

These conference foes have only squared off once this season, and the Fordham Rams were thoroughly embarrassed by Dayton on their home floor. The final score saw Dayton win 82-58. On Saturday, the Rams will look to avenge that loss as they take on Dayton for the second time.

This season, Fordham ranks 141st in the nation in scoring, averaging 72.1 points per game. Away from their home court, they are averaging just 68.5.

The two main scoring threats for the Rams are Darius Quisenberry and Khalid Moore. For Quisenberry, the guard is averaging 17.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. As the only other player averaging double digits, Moore is adding 15.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

Defensively, the Rams rank 85th overall, allowing opponents an average of 67.3 points per game.

Dayton Looks To Strong Defense As They Push For Conference Finals

Head coach Anthony Grant has strived for strong defense all season, and his team has certainly produced. Coming into this game, the Flyers rank eighth in the nation in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 60.6 points per game.

In their last three games, the defense has given up an average of just 57.3 points per contest. If Dayton wants to win this one, they will need that defense to come prepared, especially because their offense is not elite.

This season, the Flyers’ offense ranks just 223rd overall, averaging just 68.8 points per game. Away from home, that number shrinks to just 63.6 points per contest.

Like Fordham, Dayton has just two players averaging double digits in forwards Daron Holmes II and Toumani Camara. Over 32 games, Holmes has averaged 18 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. Camara is chipping in 13.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals.

Take Dayton To Win And Cover

Fordham comes into this one having gone 12-3 straight up and 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games. In their last 19 games against Dayton, though, they have gone 1-18 overall. Against the spread, they are just 4-9 in their last 13 games against the Flyers.

As for Dayton, they are 6-2 in their last eight games and 6-3 in their last nine games played on a Saturday. Of note, the total has gone UNDER in four of the last five matchups between these two teams.

Even though Dayton is known more for their defense than their offense this season, they have shot it pretty well in the latter part of the season. That was represented in the first matchup between these two teams, when the Flyers exploded for 82 points.

While a 24-point margin seems unlikely again, Dayton has just had Fordham’s number over the last several years. Expect that to continue Saturday.

Take Dayton to both win and to cover the 6.5-point spread (-105).
