New England Patriots at Green Bay Packers Betting Preview

Sunday afternoon features a battle of AFC versus NFC as the New England Patriots (1-2) take on the Green Bay Packers (2-1).

The Packers will host this one at Lambeau Field, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 pm ET. The Packers are the overwhelming favorites playing at home Sunday.

They are -460 to win, while the Patriots’ moneyline sits at +360. The spread features New England +9.5 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 39.5.

Patriots Try To Move Back To .500

It has been a bit of a slow start for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. After splitting the first two games, they dropped last week’s game against the Ravens 37-26. With the slow start, they have the third-best odds of winning the AFC East at +2200.

Unfortunately for the Patriots, not only did they lose last week, but they lost their quarterback as well. Mac Jones was forced to leave last week with an ankle injury and will miss several weeks.

As a result, the Patriots will turn to veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer. The 36-year-old quarterback threw just 11 passes last week for the Patriots, amassing 227 yards and a single touchdown.

The last time that he played in more than ten games in a season was 2015 when he threw for 2,606 yards and 19 touchdowns over 11 games for the Texans.

With Jones out, the Patriots may look to the ground game a bit more. The leading rushers are currently Damien Harris (160 yards, two touchdowns) and Rhamondre Stevenson (145 yards, touchdown).

Packers Regroup With Back-To-Back Wins

After losing their opening game 23-7 to the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers have bounced back in their last two with wins over the Chicago Bears (27-10) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14-12). They will look to make it three in a row with a win over the Patriots.

The Packers are led under center by veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He has thrown for 684 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions thus far this season.

With Davante Adams in Las Vegas, the leading receiver for the Packers through three games has been Romeo Doubs. He has 14 receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown.

On the ground is where Green Bay is really scary this season. Aaron Jones (217 yards, touchdown) and A.J. Dillon (138 yards, touchdown) makes for a tough one-two combo.

Defensively, the Packers rank sixth in scoring defense as they are allowing opponents an average of just 15 points per game.

Take Packers To Win And Cover

Looking at the trends, there is a lot to like about Green Bay in this one. They have gone 9-1 in their last ten games at Lambeau Field, and they have gone 5-1 in their last six against AFC teams.

For New England, they have struggled lately, going 1-4 in their last five games straight up, and they have gone just 0-4-1 in their last five against the spread.

Especially with Mac Jones out, the Patriots might struggle to consistently score. Expect the Packers to not only win this one at home (-460) but don’t be surprised if they cover the 9.5-point spread (-110) as well.
