New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview – Week 16
On Thursday Night Football for Week 16 of the National Football League, we have a big time game. The New Orleans Saints are on the road at the Los Angeles Rams. This game features a pair of teams at 7-7, both looking to get into the postseason.
The Saints have won back to back games, and allowed 6 points in each of those games. New Orleans is tied with Tampa Bay for the top of the NFC South. New Orleans is also tied with the Rams and Minnesota for the wildcard spots. The Saints currently lose out on all tiebreakers, and are on the outside looking in for the postseason.
For the Los Angeles Rams, they are coming off a 28-20 win over the Commanders at home. The Rams have won three out of their last four games. Los Angeles will not win the NFC West, but currently hold the 7th seed in the NFC wildcard chase. If the postseason started today, the Rams would take on the winner of the NFC East, either Philadelphia or Dallas, in the first round of the postseason.
The Los Angeles Rams come into the game as the favorite. The Rams are listed at -4.5.
Saints Looking for Three Straight
The New Orleans Saints are going to look to keep their defensive shoes on in this one. The Saints are allowing just 19.1 points per game, which has moved to 6th in the league. On the offensive side, the Saints are hit and miss. Derek Carr used three different receivers in the win on Sunday over the Giants.
Carr has more than 3,000 passing yards on the season. Chris Olave has been his top target, but missed last week. His status is questionable for this game. Alvin Kamara remains as the top threat in the Saints offense. The running back led the Saints in the win on Sunday with 110 yards, but did not get into the end zone.
New Orleans will finish the season at Tampa Bay in Week 17, and then at home against the Falcons in Week 18.
Rams Seeking Lucky 8
The Los Angeles Rams are finishing their home slate in this game. The Rams are also in search of their 8th win of the season. The Rams have gone 4-3 at home under head coach Sean McVay. In their last three home games, the Rams have scored 27 points per game.
The Rams offense is rolling right now, and much of it has to do with Kyren Williams returning healthy. The running back needs just 47 yards on the ground to reach 1,000 on the season. WIlliams has only played in 10 of the Rams 14 games. Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua have combined for more than 1800 yards receiving, and both have four touchdowns on the season.
Los Angeles will head to New York on New Year’s Eve to take on the Giants. In Week 18, the Rams are at the 49ers.
Los Angeles Wins at Home
Both teams are hot, but the Rams offense is too hot right now. Matthew Stafford has his weapons, and loves using them. Look for the Saints defense to come back down to earth a little. The Rams win this game, and move to 8-7 on the season. When betting this game, take the Los Angeles Rams -4.5 over the New Orleans Saints.
