New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks Betting Previews

Monday Night Football features an NFC battle of South versus West as the New Orleans Saints (3-2) square off with the Seattle Seahawks (2-4). The Seahawks will host this one from Lumen Field, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 pm ET.

At 3-2, the New Orleans Saints sit second in the NFC South. After beating the Washington Football Team 33-22 in Week 5, they enjoyed their bye week this last week.

In the victory over Washington, Jameis Winston threw for 279 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Marquez Callaway was the primary benefactor of Winston’s day as he hauled in four receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

For the Seahawks, they come into this one having lost back-to-back games to the Rams and Steelers. Last week, it was a heartbreaking 23-20 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

In the defeat, Geno Smith threw for 209 yards and a touchdown while Alex Collins rushed for 101 yards and a score of his own.

Despite playing on the road, the Saints are the favorites Monday. They are -220 to win while the Seahawks’ moneyline sits at +184. The spread features Seattle +4.5 (-114), and the over/under for total points is 42.5.

More Odds

Currently, the Saints have the second-best odds of winning the NFC South at +550; however, they are trying to catch the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers (-600). The Seahawks have the worst odds of winning a loaded NFC West at +3500.

In terms of the Super Bowl, the Saints are +4000 to win it all. The Seahawks are +10000 to win Super Bowl LVI.

By The Numbers

In their last seven games against Seattle, the Saints are 5-2 against the spread; however, they are 2-5 against them in their last seven road games at Lumen Field.

At 2-4 this season, the Seahawks have struggled both on the road (2-2) and at home (0-2). In their six games, four of them have gone under in terms of points.

Saints Look To Be Sharp Coming Off Of Bye Week

Looking to try to keep pace with the Buccaneers in their division, the New Orleans Saints will try to take advantage of their bye week and come out refreshed against the Seahawks on the road. Under Sean Payton, since 2006, the Saints are 9-6 following a bye week.

Leading the offense under center is quarterback Jameis Winston. On the year, Winston has thrown for 892 yards, 12 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 86 yards and a score on the ground.

One of the Saints’ most dangerous weapons is running back Alvin Kamara. On the ground, Kamara has rushed for 368 yards and a touchdown.

Through the air, he has 15 receptions for 113 yards and three scores. Defensively, the Saints rank fourth in scoring defense, allowing 18.2 points per game to opponents (16 on the road).

Seahawks Trying To Find Answers Amidst Injuries

When Russell Wilson had to undergo surgery on his injured throwing hand, head coach Pete Carroll and the Seahawks knew that things were really going to get tough. With Geno Smith now under center, the team is still trying to find ways to consistently win.

To date, Smith has played in two games, throwing for 340 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. His best-receiving options to this point are D.K. Metcalf (31 receptions, 441 yards, five touchdowns) and Tyler Lockett (27 receptions, 425 yards, three touchdowns).

Another issue for the Seahawks is their backfield. Chris Carson (neck) is on the injured reserve, and backup Alex Collins (groin) is questionable for Monday night. If Collins can’t play Monday, it might be Rashaad Penny, who is coming off of injured reserve himself, who gets the most action.

The Seahawks currently rank 21st in scoring defense, allowing 24.8 points per game (29.5 at home).

Take The Saints To Win And Cover

With all of the injuries for the Seahawks, it is just hard to get behind them right now. Geno Smith might be a game manager, but he won’t be the sole reason his team wins very often.

Between the Saints having a stronger team right now and Sean Payton’s track record coming off of bye weeks, New Orleans is a strong play in this one despite playing on the road.

Take the Saints to both win and cover.
