NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Jacksonville Jaguars in a huge AFC battle during week five of the NFL season. These two teams are widely considered two of the top teams in the conference, and this game could be a playoff preview. The Chiefs have one of the most explosive offenses in football, while the Jaguars have the stingiest defense in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs come into this game with a 4-0 record, and in first place in the AFC West division. The Chiefs used a big fourth quarter to earn a comeback win against the Denver Broncos in week four. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-1, with their lone loss coming to the Tennessee Titans in week three. The Kansas City Chiefs are a three-point favorite in this game.
Mahomes Continues To Impress
The Chiefs offense is led by second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has arguably been the offensive MVP of the NFL this season but will face a top defense this week. The athletic quarterback has thrown for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns this season and has yet to throw an interception. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce have combined for over 600 receiving yards and six touchdowns for the undefeated Chiefs this season.
Kansas City continues to struggle defensively, and have spent a ton of time on the field this season. The Chiefs have given up an average of 28.8 points per game, which ranks as the 25th worst total of the 32 NFL teams. Kansas City has only forced three turnovers this season, but will look to take advantage of a struggling offense in this game.
Jaguars Defense Set For Biggest Test
The Jacksonville Jaguars nearly reached the Super Bowl last season due to their defense, and they are off to another great start in 2018. The Jaguars have allowed just 14 points per game this season, which is tops in the NFL. Cornerbacks A.J. Bouye and Jalen Ramsey are two of the best in the NFL, and they will make things difficult for Mahomes and the Chiefs passing game in this one.
The Jaguars are still trying to find consistent offense, and consistent play from their quarterback Blake Bortles. Bortles has thrown for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns this season but has also thrown three interceptions and struggled mightily in the Jags only loss. Jacksonville will be without their leading rusher, Leonard Fournette, for a second straight week.
Chiefs Continue To Win
There has been plenty of trash talk from both sides leading up to the game this week. Both the Chiefs and Jaguars feel like they are the class of the AFC, and now they get a chance to prove it. The Jaguars have an outstanding defense, and they should be able to slow down the Chiefs relentless passing attack in this game.
Kansas City has struggled to get stops all season long, but the Jaguars offense isn’t nearly as scary without Leonard Fournette. Look for the Chiefs to win this game, by finding a way to outscore the Jaguars on Sunday. The Jags will compete, but the Chiefs will move to 5-0 with a decisive win. Bet the Kansas City Chiefs -3.0 in this game.
