Oklahoma Sooners at Baylor Bears Betting Preview

Saturday features a matchup of ranked Big 12 teams as the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners (9-0) take on the No. 18 Baylor Bears (7-2). The Bears will play host in this one at McLane Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 pm ET.

The Sooners enjoyed their bye week last week after trouncing Texas Tech 52-21 on October 30. In the win, Caleb Williams threw for 402 yards and a whopping six touchdowns. Marvin Mims was the recipient of two of those touchdowns to go along with his 135 yards.

After winning three games in a row, Baylor was upset last week at the hands of unranked TCU 30-28. In the loss, quarterback Gerry Bohanon threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns, but he also had two interceptions. Baylor will look to get back on track against a tough Oklahoma team.

Oklahoma is the favorite in this one despite playing on the road. They are -245 to win while the Bears’ moneyline sits at +194. The spread features Baylor +6.5 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 62.5 (-110).

More Odds

Oklahoma currently has the best odds of winning the Big 12 at -300. The Bears have the fourth-best odds at +1800.

In terms of the National Championship, the Sooners have the fourth-best odds to win at +1400. The Bears are +30000 to win it all.

By The Numbers

Oklahoma has one of the best offenses in the country this season. They currently rank eighth in scoring averaging 38.8 points per game (42.3 on the road). Baylor ranks 32nd, averaging 32.6 points per game (36.2 at home).

Defensively, it is Baylor with the advantage. They rank 32nd in scoring defense allowing opponents 22.2 points per game. The Sooners rank 66th allowing 27.2 points per game.

Oklahoma Looks To Freshman To Stay Unbeaten

After starting the season with Spencer Rattler under center, the Sooners have turned to Caleb Williams under center, and he hasn’t disappointed. With the freshman under center, Oklahoma will look to stay unbeaten this season.

Caleb Williams has been fantastic all season when he has gotten the chance. In 109 attempts, Williams has thrown for 1,189 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just a single interception.

Leading the receivers for Oklahoma is Marvin Mims. This season he has 26 receptions for 605 yards and four touchdowns. Mario Williams (319 yards, three touchdowns) and Jadon Haselwood (316 yards, six touchdowns) have also been outstanding.

On the ground, Kennedy Brooks has led the Sooners with 131 carries for 802 yards and nine touchdowns.

Baylor Looks To Stay Perfect At Home

Baylor’s hopes of a Big 12 title took a major hit last week when they were upset by TCU. On Saturday, they will look to home-field advantage to hopefully try to get back into the conference fight.

The biggest problem for Baylor in their loss last week was their defense. They gave up 468 yards through the air in the loss, something that has to be concerning with Oklahoma’s high-scoring offense coming to town.

For Baylor, they are led under center by Gerry Bohanon. This season, he has thrown for 1,967 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Bohanon has also rushed for 176 yards and another seven touchdowns.

The Bears are most deadly on the ground. Abram Smith currently has 144 rushing attempts for 1,055 yards and 11 touchdowns. Trestan Ebner has also been solid, with 601 rushing yards and a score.

Take Oklahoma To Win And Cover

It is always tough to know how a team will respond after a devastating loss. For Baylor, trying to rebound becomes all the tougher when welcoming the No. 4 ranked team in the country to town.

Expect Sooners’ coach Lincoln Riley to have his team ready to play, especially coming off of a bye week.

Between Oklahoma’s momentum and just a superior team, the Sooners should be able to not only win this one but should be able to cover the 6.5 point spread as well.
