Oklahoma State Cowboys at Marquette Golden Eagles Betting Preview

On Tuesday, it is a battle of unbeaten teams early in the season as the Oklahoma State Cowboys (2-0) will take on the Marquette Golden Eagles (2-0) at Fiserv Forum. Tipoff for this one is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.

Oklahoma State has started with a couple of victories as they beat Texas-Arlington 75-68 last week and Texas Southern 85-65 on Saturday. They will get their first true test on Tuesday as they travel to take on Marquette.

Speaking of Marquette, they are also 2-0 after a pair of victories last week. They were able to beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 99-57 and Eastern Illinois 75-50. They are hoping to stay unbeaten ahead of a matchup with No. 4 Wisconsin this Friday.

The Golden Eagles come into this one as the favorites. They are currently -200 to win while Oklahoma State’s Moneyline sits at +168. The spread features the Cowboys +4.5 while the over/under for total points is 145.5.

By The Numbers

Marquette currently ranks 26th in scoring just two games into the season as they are averaging 87 points per game. Oklahoma State comes in 60th, averaging 80 points per game.

On the defensive side, Marquette ranks 6th overall as they are allowing an average of just 53.5 points per game to opponents. Oklahoma State comes in 82nd, allowing an average of 66.5 points per game to opponents.

Oklahoma State Looks To Stay Unbeaten

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have started well through two games and will look to stay unbeaten as they take on the Golden Eagles. Leading the way for the Cowboys has been freshman guard Cade Cunningham.

On the season, Cunningham is averaging 20.5 points on 50% shooting. He is also averaging seven rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Cunningham is not the only freshman who has been productive. In their win over Texas Southern, freshman Rondel Walker put up 19 points and three rebounds in just 23 minutes of work.

Junior guard Isaac Likekele has also been productive as he is averaging 8.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.

Marquette Hopes To Keep High Flying Offense Rolling

It has only two games, but the Golden Eagles’ offense has been on a roll. They have five players averaging double-digits, led by forward Dawson Garcia.

In those two games, Garcia has averaged 17.5 points, six rebounds, two assists, and a block. In their win over Eastern Illinois, he scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds in 28 minutes.

Others who are averaging double-digits include Koby McEwen (13 points, four rebounds), Theo John (11 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks), Jamal Cain (11 points, 6.5 rebounds), and Justin Lewis (10 points, six rebounds).

Marquette Wins And Covers

It is always tough to get a gauge on early games. Many times teams schedule opponents that they know they can have success over. With that in mind, this will be the first real test for both sides.

Despite the undefeated starts, only one team has impressed. Marquette has flashed brilliance on both sides of the ball, and while they lost their all-time leading scorer in Markus Howard, they have shown they have some pieces to make up for the production.

We will have a better idea of what these teams have to offer after this game, but for now, I like my chances with Marquette not only winning but covering the 4.5 points.
