Oregon State Beavers at Arizona Wildcats Betting Preview
Thursday night features a Pac-12 showdown of worst versus first as the Oregon State Beavers (3-20, 1-12 in Pac-12) take on the No. 3 Arizona Wildcats (22-2, 12-1 in the Pac-12). The Wildcats will host this one at McKale Memorial Center, with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 pm ET.
This is the second time these two have squared off as Arizona beat Oregon State 90-65 back on December 5. Oregon State hosted that game.
The Beavers are currently on a 10-game losing streak and haven’t won since 2021 (December 30). In their last game, they were trounced 90-64 by Colorado on their home floor.
In the loss, Dashawn Davis put up 22 points and six assists, but no other Beaver scored in double digits outside of Davis.
Since losing to No. 13 UCLA 75-59 back on January 25, Arizona has won six games in a row. In their last matchup, they beat Washington 92-68 on the road.
Arizona had two players with over 20 points in that game as Bennedict Mathurin led the way with 25 points and five rebounds. Azuolas Tubelis had a double-double with 21 points and ten boards.
Arizona is an overwhelming favorite in this one. They are -10000 to win while the Beavers’ moneyline sits at +3000. The spread features Oregon State +26, and the over/under for total points is 152.5.
More Odds
The Wildcats are the favorite to win the Pac-12 at -1450. Oregon State is +50000 to win the conference.
In terms of the National Championship, Arizona has the second-best odds of winning it all at +850.
By The Numbers
Arizona has one of the best offenses in the nation. They currently rank third in the nation in scoring averaging 84.9 points per game (87.2 at home). The Beavers rank 257th averaging 67.2 points per game (60.5 on the road).
Defensively, it is again Arizona with the edge. They rank 54th in scoring defense as they are allowing opponents an average of 65 points per game (60.8 at home). Oregon State ranks 308th as they are allowing 75.7 points per game.
Beavers Trying To Avoid Humiliation
At 3-20 overall and 1-12 in the conference, Oregon State would love to upset Arizona but would realistically be happy just not being blown out. After a 25-point drubbing at the hands of Arizona on their home court, Oregon State now has to deal with playing at Arizona.
Leading the way for the Beavers this season is junior guard Jarod Lucas. In 23 games, he is averaging 13.4 points on 42% shooting. He is also adding 2.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and a steal per game.
Other contributors for Oregon State include Warith Alatishe (10 points, 5.8 rebounds), Dashawn Davis (9.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists), and Maurice Calloo (7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds).
Arizona Looks To Finish Regular Season Strong
With only seven regular-season games left, the Arizona Wildcats are hoping to finish the season on a strong note ahead of the NCAA tournament. On Thursday, they should have a nice tune up game as they welcome in the lowly Oregon State Beavers.
Leading Arizona’s high-octane offense is sophomore guard Bennedict Mathurin. He is averaging 17 points per game on 47.3% shooting, including 37% from the three. Mathurin is also putting up 5.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and a steal on a nightly basis.
It isn’t like that is it for the Wildcats. They have three others averaging double digits, including Azuolas Tubelis (14.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists), Christian Koloko (12 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 blocks), and Kerr Kriisa (10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists).
Take Arizona To Win And Cover
Yes, 26 points is a massive spread, but that is how good Arizona is and how bad Oregon State is. In fact, to date, Arizona is undefeated when playing at home, and Oregon State is winless on the road.
Add onto that the fact that Oregon has been atrocious on both sides of the floor while Arizona continues to dominate, and this one could get out of hand quickly.
Take the Wildcats to both win and cover at home.
