Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills Betting Preview
Sunday afternoon features an AFC matchup as the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3) take on the Buffalo Bills (3-1). The Bills will host this one at Highmark Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 pm ET.
The Bills come in as heavy favorites in this one playing at home. They are -900 to win, while the Steelers’ moneyline sits at +610. The spread features Pittsburgh +14 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 46.5.
Steelers Hand Reigns To Rookie Quarterback
After a 1-3 start, the Pittsburgh Steelers are heading in a new direction as head coach Mike Tomlin announced that Kenny Pickett will start under center on Sunday. The team is trying to boost an offense that ranks just 23rd in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game.
Pickett came into last week’s 24-20 loss to the New York Jets. While he completed 10 of 13 passes for 120 yards, the rookie also threw three interceptions. To his credit, he did rush six times for 15 yards and two touchdowns.
Still, Mitch Trubisky has not exactly lit the world on fire, so the Steelers, who are just +18000 to win the Super Bowl this season, will turn to Pickett to lead the offense.
On the ground, Najee Harris has led the way for Pittsburgh. In four games, he has rushed 58 times for 202 yards and a touchdown. He also has ten receptions for 48 yards and another score.
Defensively, the Steelers rank 15th in scoring defense, allowing 22.5 points per game to opponents.
Bills Look To Reclaim AFC East Lead
While Buffalo shares the same record as the Dolphins at 3-1, they technically sit in second in the AFC East after losing to Miami in Week 3. Trying to keep the pressure on the Dolphins and reclaim the AFC East lead, they will look to make it two wins in a row by taking down Pittsburgh.
Josh Allen leads Buffalo’s offense under center. He has already thrown for 1,227 yards, ten touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He also leads the team in rushing, having rushed 30 times for 183 yards and another two scores.
Allen’s favorite target continues to be Stefon Diggs. He has 31 receptions for 406 yards and four touchdowns thus far. The Bills have four others who have also eclipsed the 100-yard mark.
Buffalo can get it done on both sides of the ball, too. On defense, they rank second in the NFL, as they are allowing just 14.5 points per game to opponents.
Take Buffalo To Win And Cover
Despite the fact that Buffalo is laying 14 points in this one, take Buffalo to both win and cover the 14-point spread.
Looking at the trends, Pittsburgh has struggled, going just 1-4 straight up in their last five games. While they have had some success in recent years against Buffalo (11-3 in their last 14 matchups), these two teams are playing at completely different levels right now.
For Buffalo, they have won eight of their last ten games and are undefeated in their last five home games.
Take Buffalo to both win and cover the 14-point spread (-110).
