Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview

Sunday afternoon will feature arguably the best game of the week, as the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0) take on the Baltimore Ravens (5-1) in an AFC North showdown. The Ravens will host this matchup at M&T Bank Stadium, and kickoff is set for 1:00 pm ET.

The undefeated Steelers have shown a combination of both offensive and defensive prowess this season. They currently rank 6th in the NFL in scoring, averaging 30.5 points per game and are 6th in the league in points allowed at 19.7. The stellar play on both sides of the ball has Mike Tomlin’s team rolling early in the season.

The Ravens have been equally as impressive minus one hiccup in a 34-20 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Like the Steelers, the Ravens have been dominant on both sides of the ball. They rank 8th in the NFL in scoring (29.8 points per game) and are 1st in points allowed per game (17.3 points per game).

The Ravens come into Sunday’s meeting as the definitive favorites playing at home. Their Moneyline to win sits at -200, while the Steelers are +168 on the underdog side. Pittsburgh is getting +3.5 points, while the over/under on total points is 46.5.

Pittsburgh Looks To Stay Unbeaten

The Pittsburgh Steelers have played some great football to start off this season, but their matchup on Sunday will be another massive test.

The Steelers are led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who after a season lost to injury last year, has been solid in 2020. Through six starts, he has thrown for 1,446 yards, 13 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Roethlisberger has a plethora of weapons around him. Wide Receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (32 receptions, 279 yards, 3 touchdowns), Diaontae Johnson (24 receptions, 227 yards, 3 touchdowns), Chase Claypool (18 receptions, 333 yards, 4 touchdowns), James Washington (17 receptions, 185 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Eric Ebron (22 receptions, 215 yards, 1 touchdown) make matchups a nightmare for opposing defenses.

On the ground, James Conner has led the way with 451 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns on 95 carries.

Defensively, T.J. Watt (20 tackles, 5.5 sacks) and Bud Dupree (15 tackles, 5 sacks) power one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. In the secondary, Steven Nelson leads the team in interceptions with 2.

Ravens Look To Take Over Division Lead

Most 5-1 teams would sit atop their division standings, but in a tough AFC East the Ravens are looking up at Pittsburgh.

Lamar Jackson continues to be impressive with both his arm and feet. Jackson has thrown for 1,135 yards, 10 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions while also rushing for another 346 yards and 2 scores on 50 carries.

Through the air Marquise Brown (26 catches, 376 yards, 1 touchdown) and tight end Mark Andrews (20 catches, 243 yards, 5 touchdowns) have been Jackson’s go-to receivers.

As good as the Ravens have been on offense, they have played even better on defense. The top-ranked unit is led by Calais Campbell (4 sacks), Marlon Humphrey (36 tackles, 2.5 sacks) and Patrick Queen (44 tackles, 2 sacks). In the secondary, it has been Marcus Peters (2 interceptions) who has done the most damage.

Taking The Steelers And The Points

This is the type of game that could go either way. Both teams have the offenses as well as the defense to completely change a game. It ultimately may come down to just a play or two that determines the winner.

Since it could be so close, I am inclined to take the team getting the points. I wouldn’t blame you if you took the Ravens at home, but for my money, I am taking the unbeaten Steelers and the 3.5 points.
