Purdue Boilermakers at Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview

Big Ten rivals will square off Thursday night as the No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers (15-2, 4-2 in Big Ten) take on the Indiana Hoosiers (13-4, 4-3 in Big Ten). The Hoosiers will host this one at the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.

Purdue comes into this one after picking up a big double-overtime win over the No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini on Monday. They finished with a 96-88 win.

In the win, Sasha Stefanovic led Purdue with 22 points and eight rebounds. Zach Edey finished with 20 points and eight rebounds in the win as well.

After losing to Iowa last week, Indiana bounced back with a 78-71 road victory Monday. Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Purdue is the favorite despite playing on the road. They are -170 to win while the Hoosiers’ moneyline sits at +140. The spread features Indiana +3.5 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 144.

More Odds

In terms of the National Championship, Purdue has the fourth-best odds in college basketball of winning it all at +1000. The Hoosiers are +10000 to win.

By The Numbers

Purdue has one of the best offenses in basketball this season. They currently rank fourth in scoring, averaging 86.2 points per game (81.4 on the road). Indiana ranks 62nd, averaging 75.1 points.

Defensively, it is Indiana with the advantage. They rank 28th in scoring defense, allowing opponents an average of just 62.7 points per game (56.3 at home). Purdue ranks 122nd allowing 67.8 points per game.

Purdue Hopes To Avoid Letdown Game

After an emotional double-overtime win earlier in the week, Purdue will hope to keep rolling and avoid a letdown game as they take on the Hoosiers.

This season, the Boilermakers are led by sophomore Jaden Ivey and Zach Edey. For Ivey, the guard is putting up 16.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

The 7’4” Edey is averaging 15.6 points on 70.7% shooting. He is also averaging 7.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

With considerable depth, the Boilermakers have two others scoring in double digits. Trevion Williams (13.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists) and Sasha Stefanovic (11.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists) are both having fantastic starts to the season.

Hoosiers Look To Stay Perfect At Home

While Indiana is a disappointing 1-4 on the road, they are unbelievable at home. To date, they are 11-0 at the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. They will look to remain unbeaten at home against the No. 4 Boilermakers.

Sophomore Trayce Jackson-Davis leads head coach Mike Woodson’s offense. He is averaging 19.5 points on 60.7% shooting. He is also pulling down 9.1 rebounds and averaging 2.9 blocks.

Race Thompson is also averaging double digits with 10.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

Other contributors include Xavier Johnson (9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists), Parker Stewart (7.6 points, 2.1 rebounds), and Miller Kopp (7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds).

Take Indiana And The Points

While Purdue had a big win on Monday, they have had some inconsistencies when playing on the road this season. For instance, last month, they lost to Rutgers on the road.

Indiana has the recipe to make life tough on Purdue, with an outstanding defense and the length to compete with Purdue on the boards.

While Purdue has the better team, there is a lot of value with Indiana playing at home, where they are undefeated.

Take Indiana +3.5.
