San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

Sunday features an NFC West with significant playoff implications as the San Francisco 49ers (9-7) take on the Los Angeles Rams (12-4). The Rams will host this one at SoFi Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 pm ET.

San Francisco has won six of their last eight games to open up the possibility of a playoff berth if they can win Sunday. Last weekend, they beat the Texans 23-7.

Jimmy Garropolo was injured for that game, so Trey Lance got the start and threw for 249 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Eli Mitchell had 119 yards on the ground.

Los Angeles has also been hot as they have won five straight games. Last weekend, they just snuck by the Baltimore Ravens with a 20-19 road victory.

Matthew Stafford threw for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the win. Cooper Kupp was the leading receiver with 95 yards and a touchdown on six catches.

The Rams are the favorites in this one playing at home. They are-190 to win while the 49ers’ moneyline sits at +160. The spread features San Francisco +3.5 (-110), and the over/under for total points is 44.5 (-110).

More Odds

The Rams currently have the fifth-best odds of winning the Super Bowl at +950. The 49ers are +3400 to win it all.

By The Numbers

Between the two, the Rams have had the slightly stronger offense this year. They rank ninth in scoring averaging 27.3 points per game. The 49ers rank 13th, averaging 25 points per game.

Defensively, these teams are neck and neck. The 49ers rank 14th in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 21.3 points per game. The Rams rank right behind them at 15th, allowing an average of 21.6 points (19.9 at home).

Win And The 49ers Are In

This game is pivotal for the San Francisco 49ers since if they win, they will be in the playoffs as a Wild Card team. With a loss, they would need to back their way in by relying on a Saints’ loss.

They still may be without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for this game as he recovers from a thumb injury. Officially listed as questionable, the 49ers would turn to Trey Lance again if Garoppolo is ruled out.

This season, Lance has thrown for 603 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in parts of six games.

The leading receiver for the 49ers is Deebo Samuel. He has 73 receptions this season for 1,310 yards and six touchdowns. He has also contributed in the run game with 320 yards and another seven scores.

The leading rusher is Eli Mitchell. In 10 games, he has rushed 186 times for 878 yards and five scores.

Rams Are In, But This Game Is Still Critical

At 12-4, the Rams are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, but there is still a lot of volatility for what their seed will be. If they win, they will win the division and likely be the second seed in the NFC. With a loss, though, Arizona could sneak in and win the division, dropping the Rams as low as a fifth seed.

The Rams are also hoping to avenge their loss to the 49ers earlier in the season. On November 15, the 49ers beat up the Rams 31-10. Stafford struggled in that game, throwing for just 243 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

This season, Stafford has thrown for 4,648 yards, 38 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. His leading receiver is Cooper Kupp, who has 1,829 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.

The Rams’ defense has been led by Jordan Fuller (107 tackles), Aaron Donald (12.5 sacks), and two players (Jalen Ramsey and Taylor Rapp) with three interceptions each.

Take The 49ers And The Points

This should be a really fun game between division rivals as both definitely have something to play for. It is hard to ignore the success of the 49ers recently, though. They are 9-3 in their last 12 games against the Rams.

With both teams in desperate need of a win, expect this one to be close throughout. For that reason, taking the points might be the best bet.

Take San Francisco +3.5 (-110).
