San Francisco 49ers at Tennessee Titans Betting Preview

Thursday Night Football features a battle of NFC versus AFC as the San Francisco 49ers (8-6) take on the Tennessee Titans (9-5). The Titans will host this one at Nissan Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 pm ET.

The 49ers have been playing some good football as of late. They have won two in a row and five of their last six. Last week, they won 31-13 over the Atlanta Falcons.

In the win, Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 235 yards and a touchdown, but it was the ground game that was most impressive. Jeff Wilson rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown, while Deebo Samuel also rushed for a score.

Tennessee has been struggling a little bit as of late. They lost last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 19-13. That now makes three of their last four games that they have dropped.

In the loss to Pittsburgh, Ryan Tannehill threw for just 153 yards and an interception. D’Onta Foreman rushed 22 times for 108 yards.

San Francisco is the slight favorite despite playing on the road. They are -168 to win while the Titans’ moneyline sits at +142. The spread features Tennessee +3 (-106), and the over/under for total points sits at 44.5 (-110).

More Odds

The Titans are the favorites to win the AFC South at -800. The 49ers are just +3400 to win the NFC West as they are still looking up at both the Cardinals and Rams.

In terms of the Super Bowl, the Titans are +2600 to win it all while the 49ers are +2800.

By The Numbers

San Francisco has had the better of the two offenses thus far. They rank 13th in the NFL, averaging 25.7 points per game. The Titans rank 15th, averaging 24.1 points (22.1 at home).

Defensively, it is Tennessee with the slight edge. They rank 16th in scoring defense allowing just 22.1 points per game (18.7 at home). The 49ers rank 19th allowing 22.4 points (20.9 on the road).

49ers Trying To Stay In Playoff Contention

Despite being third in the division, the 49ers would be in the playoffs as a Wild Card team if the season ended right now. With several teams on their tails, San Francisco will look to maintain their spot with a win Thursday night.

Leading the way under center for San Francisco is quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. This season, he has thrown for 3,172 yards, 18 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

He has a trio of receivers that get most of the passing work. Deebo Samuel leads all 49ers’ receivers with 1,088 yards. He also has five touchdowns.

Tight end George Kittle (850 yards, six touchdowns) and Brandon Aiyuk (585 yards, four touchdowns) have also been solid in the passing game.

With Eli Mitchell ruled out for Thursday’s contest, it will be Jeff Wilson leading the ground attack again. In six games this season, he has rushed for 249 yards and a touchdown.

Titans Look For Home Magic

Currently 9-5, the Titans have the Indianapolis Colts on their heels in the AFC South. Trying to hold them off, the Titans will look for the win at Nissan Stadium, where they are 5-2 thus far this season.

Ryan Tannehill will take the snaps under center for Mike Vrabel’s offense. Tannehill has thrown for 3,118 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He has struggled quite a bit as of late. In fact, in his last three games, he has averaged less than 150 yards per game.

As a result, it is the ground game that Tennessee will try to control. With Derrick Henry out, D’Onta Foreman has been the lead back. He has rushed 77 times for 348 yards and a touchdown this season.

Take the 49ers To Win On The Road

With Ryan Tannehill’s struggles, this one may come down to how well the 49ers can stop the run. They currently rank 13th in rushing defense, allowing 108.6 yards per game. They have been better as of late, though, allowing just 98 yards per game in their last three.

Right now, it is hard to ignore momentum, and the 49ers definitely have it. They have been playing well as of late while the Titans have struggled to hang onto their division lead.

As a result, take San Francisco to win on the road.
