Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

A pair of American League West teams will get together on Saturday for the third game of a four-game series. Seattle won the opener on Thursday 5-3 in 10 innings. Seattle backed it up with yet another win on Friday.

The Mariners, with the win, moved to 58-52 on the season, while the loss for the Angels dropped them to 56-55 on the season.

The Seattle Mariners are small favorites in this game. Seattle is listed at -130, while the Angels are at +110. The total for this game is listed at 8.5 runs.

Offense Galore on Friday

The two teams came out and scored like crazy in the game on Friday night. The Mariners scored four runs in the first inning, with Ty France hitting a three-run home run, but the Angels Luis Rengifo hit one to make it 4-1. The Mariners got a home run from Dylan Moore, while Mike Moustakas hit one for the Angels. It was 5-5 after three innings.

Julio Rodriguez changed that in the 4th inning with a two-run bomb. Mickey Moniak later tied the game in the fifth inning with a two-run home run. Seattle got an RBI single from Eugenio Suarez in the 8th and a Cal Raleigh home run in the 9th to win the game 9-7.

Ohtani Fever

Shohei Ohtani is staying with the Angels, at least through the end of this season. But, since announcing he would stay, the Angels have lost 6 out of their last eight games. The Angels have dropped to fourth in the division and are 8.5 games out.

But Ohtani still continues to produce. The slugger is hitting .310 with 40 home runs and has driven in a team-high 82 runs. The Angels, as a team, are 6th in runs with .549 and 9th in batting average, at .256.

Seattle Surge

The Seattle Mariners would love to keep this surge going, as they have won five out of their last six. During those five wins, the Mariners have scored six runs per game while allowing just three.

Seattle has been starting to get increased productivity from their slugger Julio Rodriguez. He now has 18 home runs and has drove in 60 on the season. Eugenio Suarez leads the team with 71 runs batted in.

Saturday’s Pitching Matchup

The Seattle Mariners will go with George Kirby in this one. The 25-year-old right-hander is seeing his 10th win on the season. Kirby is 9-8 on the season, with a 3.43 earned run average.

Kirby has struck out 119 batters this season while walking just 14. Kirby went five innings on July 31st against Boston, allowing just four hits and a run.

Tyler Anderson will get the start for the Los Angeles Angels. The lefthander from Las Vegas is 5-2 on the season, with a 4.98 earned run average. Anderson has 80 strikeouts over 99.1 innings.

During that time, Anderson has allowed 111 hits and 55 earned runs. Anderson is making his 19th start of the season and 160th in his Major League Baseball career.

Mariners Top Angels

Look for George Kirby to put together a really solid outing in this game. Both of these teams know that wins are needed at a premium these days.

Both teams’ offenses can be shut down, but both can explode, as they did early in the game on Friday. That’s when you go with the pitching matchup, and to us – that favors Seattle. Take the Mariners -130 over the Angels on Saturday.
