Seattle Seahawks vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Monday Night Football features a matchup of NFC West versus East as the Seattle Seahawks (7-3) take on the Philadelphia Eagles (3-6-1) at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Both of these teams are in a battle within their respective divisions, so every win is crucial at this point. Kickoff is at 8:15 P.M. Eastern.
The Seattle Seahawks are currently tied atop the NFC West with the Los Angeles Rams, but the Rams hold the tiebreaker. The Seahawks come into this one 2-2 in their last four games, but were able to beat the Arizona Cardinals in their matchup last week. While the defense has struggled, Russell Wilson and the offense will look to lead the Seahawks to victory Monday night.
As crazy as it may sound, 3-6-1 puts the Eagles not only in second place in their division but just a half-game out of first place. Even in such a poor division, the team has to play better if it wants to compete. Philadelphia has lost two straight games and four out of their last six. In the previous two games, the offense has struggled as it has scored just 17 points in each of those games.
Despite being the road team, the Seahawks are the favorites in this one. Their moneyline sits at -260 to win while the Eagles are +215. The spread features the Eagles +6.5, while the over/under for total points is 48.5.
By The Numbers
Offensively, Seattle has been one of the best scoring teams in the NFL. They currently rank second overall, averaging 31.8 points per game. The Eagles fall to 24th, averaging just 22 points per game.
In terms of scoring defense, it is the Eagles who hold the edge. They rank 16th in the NFL in points allowed per game at 25.4. The Seahawks rank 28th, allowing an average of 28.7 points per game.
Seahawks Look For Big Road Win
Seattle is in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, so every win at this point is crucial. Highly motivated, the Seahawks will look to go on the road, where they are just 2-3, to secure their eighth overall win.
Leading the way for Seattle is star quarterback and likely MVP-finalist Wilson. On the season, Wilson has thrown for 2,986 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He has also rushed 55 times for 367 yards and another score.
Through the air, Wilson has a pair of receivers that have been lethal this season. Tyler Lockett leads the team in catches with 67 while also adding 748 yards and eight touchdowns. DK Metcalf has 48 catches for 862 yards and nine scores.
Eagles Aim To Snap Losing Streak
The Eagles are hoping to get back to .500 on Monday and snap their current two-game losing streak. One of the biggest questions will be which quarterback gets the nod under center. While Carson Wentz has been their starter all season, Jalen Hurts has been getting first-team reps during practice this week.
This season, Wentz has thrown for 2,326 yards and 14 touchdowns, but he also has 14 interceptions and has been sacked a whopping 40 times. While Wentz is still expected to start, there is a chance that Hurts, a second-round pick in the 2020 Draft, could see an increase in playing time.
Defensively, the Eagles have been led by Jalen Mills (41 tackles), fearsome pass-rusher Brandon Graham (seven sacks), and a trio of players (Alex Singleton, Rodney McLeod, and Jalen Mills) with one interception each.
Seahawks Win And Cover
Undoubtedly, the Seahawks defense has been a bit of an issue lately, but it is still not nearly the trainwreck that the Eagles’ offense has been. While Philadelphia’s defense has been solid, this feels like a game where Seattle will be able to rack up points in a hurry while, and the Eagles will have little answer. Take Seattle not only to win but to cover the 6.5 points.
