St. Louis Blues at Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview

A late-night matchup on Wednesday between two of the better teams in the Western Conference showcases the St. Louis Blues and the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas opened with a win over the Seattle Kraken on the opening night of the season but suffered a loss to the Los Angeles Kings last Thursday.

The Blues are off to a hot start with a win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night and a win on Monday night over Arizona.

These two teams could be competing down the stretch for the top spot in the Western Conference; Vegas has the second-best odds of winning the conference, currently at +300. The Blues currently have +2000 odds to win the Western Conference.

St. Louis Blues Betting Preview

The Blues are off to a hot start with a 2-0-0 record, with wins over Colorado and Arizona. The Blues have had help from all around, both young and veteran players. In the first game against Colorado, David Perron was able to contribute with two goals, and Monday evening, both Klim Kostin and Jordan Kyrou had two goals each.

The offseason acquisitions of Pavel Buchnevich and Brandon Saad seem to be working so far, although Buchnevich was removed from the game on a major penalty for head butting a Coyote player.

While the Blues have won both games so far, Jordan Binnington needs to be better. He has made big saves so far this season but has also given up many easy goals, especially Monday night. It is early in the season, and Binnington has plenty of time to get it going, but so far, he has been average.

The Blues will need 2019 like season from Binnington if they want a chance at competing in the conference and playoffs.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview

The start to the 2021-22 season has been less than ideal for the Vegas Golden Knights with the amount of injuries they have faced. Most notably, the Knights lost two key players in Max Pacioretty and Steve Stone in the game against Los Angeles.

Pacioretty suffered a broken foot in Thursday’s loss to the Kings. Stone went down with a lower-body injury in the game as well and is currently considered day to day.

While the timetable is currently set week to week for Pacioretty, that is a huge blow for Vegas as Pacioretty is a large part of that offense and a huge reason for the success of the Knights. While it is early in the season, Pacioretty was leading in goals and points so far for Vegas.

Vegas, when healthy, is arguably the best team in the Western Conference. Since the inaugural season where Vegas skated their way to the Stanley Cup Finals, they have maintained the success and have become a powerhouse in the NHL. Vegas will be looking for help with the amount of injuries they face so far.

Blues vs. Knights Odds & Lines

Money Line: Blues +116 | Knights -136
Over/Under: 5.5 goals

With the amount of injuries that Vegas has seen so far this year and the key players that are injured, it would not be surprising to see the Blues win this game and head home with a 3-0-0 record to start the year.

In order to win, St. Louis is going to need to score quite a few goals and hit the over. The Blues are not favorites in this game, but the injuries so far may take away from Vegas and what they are able to do.
