Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans Betting Preview

The final game of the NFL preseason for all the teams is here, so the competitions will be heating up. A number of guys will be cut at the conclusion of it, shrinking the rosters down to game-week size. There are only supposed to be 53 left standing, but that is not going to be the case until after the fact.

For the Bucs, this year is supposed to be a title defense. They won it all a season ago, and they brought back every last starter from that team while also adding a few new players. What more could any fan of the team want than that? Things have been looking great, and so, now Kyle Trask is trying to prove he can usurp Blaine Gabbert on the depth chart before week 1.

Houston is sort of in shambles here. Deshaun Watson will probably not play this year, not that he wanted to play for the Texans anyway. But he’s in loads of legal trouble, so he might not ever see the field again. They will likely be leaning on Tyrod Taylor to run a revamped offense with many new backs and receivers.

All said and done; this should be a fun battle to close the preseason out.

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for the game is set at TB -4. The over/under is sitting at 37 points. The TB moneyline is -195, and the latter is HOU +165.

Bucs Aim to End on High Note

It was a quiet offseason for the champs, and that is absolutely perfect for them. They brought the gang back together while also adding Gio Bernard to give them another dynamic running back. He wasn’t being used often in Cincy anyway, so this is a good get for a team that had very little to do.

The thing that will get in their way, if anything, is health. So they will be using the preseason to assess the backend of their depth chart, make sure it is all up to speed. Watching Kyle Trask slinging the ball will also be a lot of fun.

The Bucs shouldn’t have many issues to address after the game.

Texans Seeking Victory

With a first-time coach leading them this year, things will be interesting for Houston. The franchise QB may never see the NFL field again. JJ Watt left after more than a decade of service to a team that really didn’t deliver anything major for him.

They signed a multitude of receivers and running backs and look very intriguing. Their RB room includes David Johnson, Mark Ingram, Phillip Lindsay, and former Pats back Rex Burkhead. And at the receiver spots, they brought in Anthony Miller and Chris Conley. The Texans also used a high-pick on Nico Collins.

Many odd trades from Bill O’Brien left them without many draft picks. But they did the best they could with what they did have. How might they end their preseason? Let’s find out.

Texans Win

The Bucs will lose, but their title defense is good to go. Preseason W for the home team.

Betting Picks:
