Game 3 Pitching Matchup
Max Scherzer is going to get the start for the Texas Rangers in this game. The 39-year-old has not been very good in the postseason so far. In fact, Scherzer did not complete the third inning in his last start. He has gone 6.2 innings, allowing 9 hits and 7 runs so far. But, he has tons of postseason experience for the Rangers. During the regular season, the right-hander made 27 starts, and finished with a 13-6 record, and a 3.77 earned run average.
For Arizona, Brandon Pfaadt will get the nod. The rookie is just 25 years old, and went 3-9 in the regular season. Pffaadt in the postseason has made three starts this season and allowed just 2 earned runs in 14 innings. His last start was against the Phillies in game 7 where he went four innings, allowing four hits and 2 runs.
Offensive Threats for Both Squads
The postseason has brought plenty of offense for both teams. For Arizona, Ketel Marte won the National League Championship Series MVP. He has picked up 21 hits in 14 games this postseason. Marte has two home runs and drove in 11 runs. Corbin Carroll, who will be named the National League Rookie of the Year is hitting just shy of .300 on the season, with two home runs as well.
Gabriel Moreno is having a nice fall as well, as he leads the team with four home runs. Tommy Pham had two doubles in the win on Saturday and has 14 hits in 51 at-bats for Arizona as well. The biog struggle has come from Christian Walker. He is hitting just .167 in the postseason with 17 strikeouts.
For Texas, Adolis Garcia obviously has been the big story. Garcia has been fantastic, with a .339 batting average, 8 bombs, and 22 runs batted in. Garcia hit a game-winning home run in the 11th inning. Along with Garcia, Corey Seager has been solid, with 16 hits as well. Seager hit a home run to tie the game late Friday night.
Marcus Semien is the guy the Rangers would like to get going. In 14 games, Semien has just 12 hits and is hitting .194. Nathaniel Lowe is another guy who has struggled, as he has struck out 21 times in 56 at-bats.
Rangers Win Game 3
Look for this to be a really good game. The first game was a great one, and game two was a laugher. Now, the Rangers are on the road, a place they have been comfortable throughout the postseason. It’s a veteran starting pitcher against a rookie.
Look for Scherzer to bring his best stuff of the postseason in this one. While neither starter goes long, offense knocks them out early, and it becomes a slugfest.
