Tiger, Phil, Peyton, and Brady Set for Golf Match

A rematch between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson is set to go in May, but this time they will have two others joining them. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will be partnering up with the PGA pros for a match that will benefit COVID-19 relief. ESPN confirmed that this would be called “The Match: Champions for Charity.”

The first head-to-head match between Tiger and Phil was on Nov. 23, 2018, at the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas. One thing noticeably different will be the addition of Brady and Manning, but also the broadcast. Last time it was a pay-per-view event, but this match will be televised on TNT.

A firm date and location haven’t been decided, but people are expecting a possible Memorial Day weekend match somewhere in Florida. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis voiced support for hosting the long-rumored match in the Sunshine State, saying, “You wouldn’t have a gallery there, you wouldn’t have crowds. But to put that on TV, I think people have been starved for content.”

The format is currently unclear, but Brady and Manning are close in skillset on the golf course. Peyton has a 6.4 handicap, while Brady has an 8.1 index.

“There was talks about doing it all along anyway,” Manning told 104.3 The Fan in Denver earlier Wednesday concerning speculation about the event before it was announced. “And now, to have a chance to have a major fundraising event for COVID-19 relief, almost like a telethon if you will … If that can take place, I’m all in for that.”

The last matchup was a bit of a disappointment to golf fans. Tiger and Phil played far from their best while the broadcast had multiple technical issues. Despite how they play, there will surely be more entertainment this time with Peyton and Brady. The smack talk will start now and won’t stop until this event is over.

Betting

Last time Tiger and Phil faced off in Las Vegas, there were many side bets, and Phil ended up winning $9 million. In this contest, the smack talk will remain, but all of the proceeds will go to the COVID-19 relief.

Money might not be exchanged like last time between players, but it will be for those watching at home. With a lack of sports entertainment during the coronavirus, fans will not miss this.

There will be plenty of side bets and wagers set up by online gaming operators as soon as the format is released. There is no doubt that this will receive a large number of wagers from fans.

With all of America tuning in, these guys better be on their game. With not much else to talk about, Tiger and Phil can’t play like they did last time around. And hopefully, the quarterback duo of Peyton and Brady can add some great golf and equally exciting entertainment.

Several things need to take place for this event to happen, but it is highly likely that these four will be on the golf course very soon.
