UFC 250 Recap: Nunes Dominates In Main Event

Saturday night was another full card for the UFC. Held at their training facility in Las Vegas, UFC 250 was headlined by the most dominant female fighter in the history of mixed martial arts.
Amanda Nunes was a heavy favorite going into her fight against Felicia Spencer to defend her featherweight title. She was successful in doing so and did it in dominant fashion.
Nunes, who also holds the bantamweight belt, proved to be too much for Spencer. She landed 124 significant strikes to Spencer’s 42. However, Spencer was a tough fighter, which caused the fight to go the full five rounds.
The only thing missing for Nunes was the knockout, but she knew Spencer was a tough opponent.
“I’m not surprised, I know she’s very tough,” Nunes said after her win. “I said in all my interviews, I know what she’s capable of. I studied her and know she’s tough.”
Fans and experts are already beginning to discuss what is next for the GOAT. Many have some ideas, but she has proved to be a level above most of her competitors.
“You know, I don’t know (who is next),” Nunes said. “That was my goal, defending my two belts at the same time. I’m with the greats. I’m so happy right now. I don’t know what’s next. I’m very proud of myself and my team.”

Cody Garbrandt won the night on social media with his incredible knockout against Raphael Assuncao. He was on the three-fight losing streak, all by knockout, but came back with a vengeance.
“It’s always great to be in the winner’s circle, especially with a knockout over a tough adversary like Raphael Assuncao. To beat the timer like that, it’s a little icing on the cake. I haven’t won since 2016, I’ve been through every emotion, in life in career, ups, and downs, what I held on to was fighting,” Garbrandt said.
Dana White is already looking into UFC 251. Perhaps it could even be held on a newly created “fight island,” which White plans to stay on for the next month.
