Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

Sunday Night Football features a battle of NFC East teams as the Washington Football Team (6-8) takes on the Dallas Cowboys (10-4). The Cowboys will host this one at AT&T Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 pm ET.
Washington has struggled a bit lately, losing two in a row. They lost to these same Cowboys at home, 27-20, on December 12 and lost to the Eagles last week, 27-17.
In last week’s loss, fill-in quarterback Garrett Gilbert threw for 194 yards while both Antonio Gibson and Jaret Patterson had rushing touchdowns.
The Cowboys have been surging, winning three in a row. Last week, they took down the New York Giants 21-6.
Dak Prescott threw for 217 yards and a touchdown while Ezekiel Elliott rushed for another score in the win.
The Cowboys are the favorites playing at home. They are -460 to win while Washington’s Moneyline sits at +360. The spread features Washington +10 (-114), and the over/under for total points is 47 (-110).
More Odds
The Cowboys have the seventh-best odds of winning the Super Bowl at +1200. Washington is +48000 to win Super Bowl LVI.
By The Numbers
The Cowboys have one of the best offenses in football this season. They rank second in scoring, averaging 28.6 points per game (35.5 at home).
Washington ranks 23rd, averaging 20.2 points.
Defensively, it is again the Cowboys with the edge. They rank seventh in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 20.9 points per game.
Washington ranks 25th, allowing 25.1 points to opponents.
Washington Looks To Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
At 6-8, the Washington Football Team’s playoff hopes are on life support. If they hope to maintain any chance, they will need to upset their division rivals on the road.
Washington got some good news on Thursday as starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke was activated off of the COVID-19 list. Heinicke has thrown for 2,931 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions this season.
He has also rushed for 297 yards and another score.
The leading rusher for Washington is Antonio Gibson. In 14 games, he has rushed 231 times for 862 yards and six touchdowns.
Through the air, the leading receiver for Washington is Terry McLaurin. He has 63 receptions for 859 yards and five touchdowns this season.
The defense for Washington is led by Cole Holcomb (120 tackles), Jonathan Allen (8.5 sacks), and a handful of defensive backs with two interceptions each.
Cowboys Try To Clinch NFC East
With a win over Washington Sunday night, the Cowboys would clinch the NFC East. Adding even more fuel to the Cowboys is the fact they are fighting for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They currently trail the Packers but are right on their tails.
Leading the way for the Cowboys is quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott has thrown for 3,598 yards, 25 touchdowns, and ten interceptions this season. He has also rushed for 105 yards and another score.
Prescott’s leading receiver has been CeeDee Lamb this season. In 13 games, the star wide receiver has 940 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
Amari Cooper (683 yards, six touchdowns) and tight end Dalton Schultz (651 yards, five touchdowns) have also been productive in the passing game.
Defensively, the Cowboys are led by Jayron Kearse (94 tackles), Micah Parsons (12 sacks), and Trevon Diggs (10 interceptions).
Expect Cowboys To Win, But Can They Cover?
Especially playing at home, where they are 4-2, the Cowboys seem like a good bet to win this game outright and win the NFC East. The question is whether they can cover the big 10-point spread.
Before Thursday, the answer to that question would probably have been an emphatic yes. However, with the return of Taylor Heinicke, Washington at least has a fighter’s chance.
Expect Dallas to win this one outright, but there is a lot of value in Washington at +10 right now.
