Washington Wizards at Miami Heat Betting Pick

The Washington Wizards head south to take on the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Both teams are coming off Martin Luther King Day wins, with Washington topping Detroit and Miami edging Sacramento in overtime. The two teams have split their first two meetings of the season, with the home team winning each time.
It has been a rough year for the Wizards, as they’ve had to use several G-League players in immediate playing situations due to various injuries to their key rotational players. Washington’s record is not very good, but the team has continued to fight and has clearly not thrown in the towel on the season.
It’s clear that Bradley Beal is not happy here, despite the fact that he signed a lucrative three-year deal to pledge his loyalty, so we’ll see how this all goes over.
For all of the unexpected contributors to Miami’s success this year, there is always a new one it seems. The Heat could not have beaten the Kings without James Johnson’s breakthrough performance in which he hit shot after shot down the stretch to keep Miami within striking distance.
He hit multiple threes down the stretch while also effectively getting to the rim. He is clearly out of the coach’s doghouse and ready to contribute more moving forward. This team is second in the East and continues to surprise us.
Miami is a 10-point favorite Wednesday night, while the over/under is set at 227.5.
Looking To Play Spoiler
The 30-13 Heat trail only the six-loss Bucks in the Eastern Conference, proving to be dominant all throughout the year. The Wizards, on the other hand, are a one-dimensional team who has taken their fair share of defeats this season. At 14-28, they have used various starting lineups and nobody has been able to stay healthy.
The most surprising thing might be that for the first time in four years, Ian Mahinmi is actually playing as well as his $16 million per year contract would suggest he should. Thomas Bryant is finally back and ready to get into the groove again, while the small forward position continues to change from game to game.
It has not been a great year for Isaiah Thomas in what was supposed to be his bounce-back season. He has lost a lot of minutes to Ish Smith, as his days as an All-Star-caliber guard are likely over thanks to all of the injuries.
Hoping To Remain Hot
Miami has been unbelievably good this season and looks to get its 31st victory in just 44 games. Justise Winslow has rarely been able to play, while Jimmy Butler missing games hasn’t slowed the Heat down at all. Multiple weeks without Goran Dragic didn’t make things easy, but also didn’t cost them anything.
Meyers Leonard has been a nice addition for the Heat, setting hard screens, grabbing rebounds and burying the three for the first seven to eight minutes of each half. Bam Adebayo looks like an All-Star, and Kendrick Nunn looks like one of the biggest draft steals in a long time.
Duncan Robinson has become a reliable three-point shooter, showing that his initial rise from Division III was clearly worth every bit of the hype.
