White Secures Location for UFC Fights; New Lawsuit Emerges

UFC president Dana White says the UFC has secured a private island to host future events. White says he has booked the place for two months and plans on filling those two months with plenty of UFC action. White says UFC 249, which will stream on ESPN+, will feature 12 fights with the main event being Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje.
“I’ll tell you this, I’m this close to getting a deal done,” White said. “So this place where this fight is going to be on April 18 I have locked up for two months, so I’m going to continue to pump fights out. I also secured an island. I’ve got an island. The infrastructure is being built right now. We’re going to do all of our international fights on this island.
“So when we do this fight April 18, international and in the United States, we’re going to start cranking. The UFC will be back up and running, internationally and here in the States.
“Health and safety is something we worry about all the time, not just during the coronavirus,” White said. “Obviously, this has made our jobs a little tougher, but we’re going to do everything above and beyond to make sure everybody is safe, just like we always do. A lot of things will be different.”
“I’m ready to get back,” White said. “You keep people in their houses for too long without entertainment, people are going to start losing their minds. And we need to start figuring out solutions. That’s what we’re doing. We’re going to keep everyone safe, and we’re going to pull this thing off.”
Lawsuit Against White
White had a lawsuit filed against him Monday, claiming he had a $450,000 contract agreement with Joshua Ramos, a Las Vegas resident, not to disclose Ramos in a 2015 court case.
“I just found out that a bulls— lawsuit was filed against me yesterday,” White said in a statement sent to the Review-Journal. “This guy went to federal prison for trying to extort me over five years ago. Now he’s hired a lawyer who is also a convicted felon, and he’s trying to extort me again for $10 million. He got no money from me last time and he won’t be getting any money from me this time. I look forward to the court dismissing this quickly so I can get rid of these scumbags forever.”
Ramos’ girlfriend had a past relationship with White and Ramos tried blackmailing White into paying hundreds of thousands of dollars, or else Ramos would release a video of the two.
Ramos’ lawyer, Ian Christopherson, says “The actions of White were fraudulent, oppressive and designed to encourage Ramos to plead guilty so he could negotiate a substantial settlement, which would prevent the disclosure of his actions at trial for the personal benefit of White and his related businesses and interest.”
