WWE Deemed Essential Business In Florida

There was good news in Florida last week for sports and entertainment fans. The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) was deemed an “essential service” and will continue to film events during the coronavirus pandemic. This has resulted in a rise in attention from online betting sites while there is a lack of sports action.

The order was signed and stated that production could continue as long as the location is closed to the general public. It was considered essential because of the impact on the Florida economy.

Wrestlemania 36 was the latest event that occurred in the WWE training facility in Orlando. According to ShowBuzz Daily, the event drew an average of 2.317 million viewers on FOX. This was higher than the 2019 average of Smackdown at 2.164 million.

“We believe it is now more important than ever to provide people with a diversion from these hard times,” WWE said in a statement to CNN. “We are producing content on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance following appropriate guidelines while taking additional precautions to ensure the health and wellness of our performers and staff.”

Betting on the Matches

The betting aspect of WWE is far different than any other sporting or entertainment event, with the outcome being predetermined. Writers create these scripts, and the winners are decided prior to the event. However, only a few people in the industry know the outcome, and they are not allowed to share any of this information.

This has led to many sportsbooks, but far from all, picking up WWE. Betonline.ag, Bovada, BetNow, MyBookie, and SportsBetting.ag are some of the websites that are currently offering lines on WWE matches.

There is also a bit of strategy that can take place. The results in the WWE matches aren’t completely random. The writers have a storyline and want to create the most exciting show possible.

If someone wants to bet on the WWE, they would need to look into the patterns and tendencies of these writers. With that being said, no one is getting rich on betting the WWE.

“Everyone always asks me, ‘How can you put up odds on something that’s predetermined?'” said Adam Burns, sportsbook manager for BetOnline.ag. “And it comes down to this: There’s not huge limits. You can’t bet $10,000 on who’s gonna win it, but you can bet a couple hundred bucks, have some fun with it. It’s more for us to get people engaged.”

A big name in sports, Rob Gronkowski, has made his way in the ring on several occasions. He is the current WWE 24/7 champion after Wrestlemania 36. Not many have faith that he will retain it for too long, with the belt switching hands fairly regularly.

Others like Enes Kanter of the Boston Celtics and DJ Marshmellow are among previous champions. One of the more popular bets moving forward is whether Gronkowski will win any other belts such as the Intercontinental or Universal Champion.

Many people might be seeking to bet on the WWE that normally wouldn’t. In these tough times, bettors are looking to engage in events such as these. Fans have one more outlet to do so thanks to the “essential” decision made in Florida.
