Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez continue to put up eye-popping numbers for the Boston Red Sox. Both players lead the Major Leagues in hitting categories and are challenging each other in the MVP race. Mookie Betts leads the league with a .343 batting average while also getting on base at a .430 clip. Martinez has belted 38 homers and driven in 106 runs to lead the American League.
Right-hander Rick Porcello will start for the Red Sox on Monday night. Porcello is 15-5 with a 4.04 earned run average through 25 starts this season. He has won four of his last five starts for Boston and will be a solid number two starter for them in the playoffs. Porcello faces a tough Indians lineup in this game.
Red Sox Win Opener
This should be a terrific series, and Monday night features two of the best starting pitchers in baseball. Kluber has been terrific for the Indians this season, but Boston has been able to score on anyone. The Indians will need to score plenty of runs in support of Kluber in this game.
