Two of the top teams in baseball will begin a four-game series on Monday night at Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox will host the Cleveland Indians in what could be a playoff preview in the American League. Both teams can score a ton of runs while also featuring dominant starting rotations.
The Boston Red Sox enter this series with an 88-37 record and a huge lead in the American League East. Boston should finish the regular season with the best record in baseball. The Cleveland Indians are 71-52 and have a 12.5 game lead in the American League Central. Both teams are locks to make the 2018 playoffs. The Boston Red Sox are -108 in the series opener on Monday.
Jose Ramirez Leads Indians Attack
The Cleveland Indians have scored the third most runs in the American League and Jose Ramirez has been a big reason why. The third baseman has belted 37 home runs and driven in 91 runs to lead the Indians this season. Ramirez continues to prove that he is one of the top players in baseball, and is on the short list of MVP candidates in the American League.
Indians ace, Corey Kluber, will make the start in the series opener. Kluber is having another solid season in 2018 and brings a 15-6 record into this game. He sports a 2.68 earned run average through 25 starts this season and has won his last three decisions. Kluber will face a very tough Red Sox lineup on Monday night.
Betts, Martinez Continue To Produce
Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez continue to put up eye-popping numbers for the Boston Red Sox. Both players lead the Major Leagues in hitting categories and are challenging each other in the MVP race. Mookie Betts leads the league with a .343 batting average while also getting on base at a .430 clip. Martinez has belted 38 homers and driven in 106 runs to lead the American League.
Right-hander Rick Porcello will start for the Red Sox on Monday night. Porcello is 15-5 with a 4.04 earned run average through 25 starts this season. He has won four of his last five starts for Boston and will be a solid number two starter for them in the playoffs. Porcello faces a tough Indians lineup in this game.
Red Sox Win Opener
This should be a terrific series, and Monday night features two of the best starting pitchers in baseball. Kluber has been terrific for the Indians this season, but Boston has been able to score on anyone. The Indians will need to score plenty of runs in support of Kluber in this game.
The Red Sox have won 17 of their last 20 games and continue to pile up wins. Boston features one of the best lineups in baseball and will look to show that offense off against the Indians. Look for Boston to score enough runs to support Porcello and earn the series-opening win. Bet the Boston Red Sox -108 on Monday night.
