American League Division Series: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
Game four of the American League Division Series is set for Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium. The Boston Red Sox have a chance to eliminate their rival in this game, after jumping out to a 2-1 series lead. Boston used a huge offensive performance in game three to take command of this best of five series.
The Yankees offense was impressive in the first two games of the series in Boston, but was quieted by the Red Sox pitching staff in game three. The Red Sox led the Major Leagues in total wins during the regular season, but the Yankees were right behind them. The winner of this series will advance to take on the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series. The Boston Red Sox are +102 in game four against the New York Yankees.
Sabathia Takes Mound For Yankees
The New York Yankees will turn to long-time veteran, CC Sabathia in hopes to keep their season alive for one more game. Sabathia went 9-7 with a 3.65 earned run average during the regular season through 29 starts. The left -hander went 1-0 in three starts against the Red Sox during the regular season but did give up seven earned runs in just 14 innings pitched.
The Yankees managed just five hits in the game three blowout loss, and several players have been struggling this series. Shortstop DiDi Gregorius has gone just 1-10 so far in this series but does have a pair of runs batted in. Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez each have a pair of home runs against the Red Sox to lead the team.
Red Sox Offense Returns In Game 3
Boston Red Sox utility man, Brock Holt, made Major League Baseball history in the Yankees 16-1 game three win. Holt became the first player in Major League history to hit for the cycle in a postseason game. The second baseman capped off the feat with a ninth-inning home run off of Yankees reliever Austin Romine.
Veteran right-hander, Rick Porcello will take the mound for the Red Sox in game four. Porcello was originally supposed to be the game three starter but was needed out of the bullpen in the series opener. Porcello made 33 starts during the regular season and posted a 17-7 record to go along with a 4.28 earned run average. He will look to pitch the Red Sox into the ALCS in this game.
Red Sox Win Game, Series Over Yankees
The New York Yankees looked to have all the momentum in this series leading up to game three, but the Red Sox responded in a big way. The Yankees got a horrible start from their ace, and will now turn to aging veteran CC Sabathia. The Yankees will need their bats to break out in a big way if they are going to win this game.
Boston was the best team in baseball this season, and they proved why on Monday night. The Red Sox have a deep and talented lineup, and that was on display in game three. Look for the Red Sox to finish off the Yankees with another dominating offensive performance in game four. Bet the Boston Red Sox +102 over the New York Yankees.
