Colorado Rockies at Texas Rangers Betting Preview

The Texas Rangers will host the Colorado Rockies in the long-awaited 2020 Major League Baseball season opener for both teams on Friday. The regular-season schedule has been changed dramatically over the last few weeks, but there will be baseball played this week.

Both the Rockies and Rangers are looking for bounce-back seasons in 2020, and they both have the offenses to get the job done. The real question for each team will be whether or not they have enough pitching, but both teams will send their aces to the mound in this game.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Colorado Rockies at +108 in their season-opening game against the Texas Rangers.

Can Rockies Score Enough Runs?

It’s no secret that the Colorado Rockies need to score runs to win games, especially when playing on the road. Colorado is a much better offensive team when playing at Coors Field, but they still have the weapons to win games away from their home ballpark.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado is the best player on the Rockies, and he hit .315 a season ago, while also hitting more than 40 home runs. Colorado has several other terrific offensive players in their lineup, but they rely on Arenado to lead them.

German Marquez will get the start for the Rockies after having a terrific 2019 season. Marquez went 12-5 with a 4.76 earned run average last season, and he has all the tools to be one of the best pitchers in the National League.

Lynn Gets Ball For Rangers

Lance Lynn will be making the Opening Day start for the Texas Rangers after resurrecting his career a season ago. Lynn went 16-11 with an ERA of 3.67 a season ago and was able to re-establish himself as a dominant pitcher in the Major Leagues.

The Texas Rangers also have a terrific offensive lineup that is led by Joey Gallo. Gallo had 40 home runs during the 2018 regular season, and he is good enough that he can carry the Rangers on offense through this 60-game season.

Texas doesn’t have much of a bullpen, and they will rely on Lynn and their offense to build up a big lead before it gets to the later innings. A close game could spell trouble for the Texas Rangers.

Colorado Just Has Too Much Offense

These are two of the best offensive teams in baseball, and there should be some fireworks on Opening Day. The Rangers play in a hitter-friendly park, and that should lead to an extremely high scoring game.

Colorado appears to have a clear edge in the starting pitching matchup in this game, but it will be the offenses that determine this outcome. Texas can hit the long ball, but the Rockies have a much better overall lineup.

Each team needs a win on Opening Day to get their season off to a good start, but it will be the Rockies that win this game. Head to FanDuel Sportsbook and bet the Colorado Rockies +108 over the Texas Rangers in this game.
