Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview – Week 18

On Saturday, we have a win and get in a situation between a pair of AFC South teams. The Houston Texans are on the road at the Indianapolis Colts. The Houston Texans are 9-7, coming off a big win at home over the Titans. Houston is third in the tiebreaker scenario, and 8th in the AFC. For the Colts, they are also 9-7 on the season.

Indianapolis currently holds the 8 seed in the AFC. They must win today to keep that spot. The Colts beat the Texans when these two teams met up in September. The Colts come into this game -1, with a total of 47.5.

Stroud Guiding Houston’s Offense

C.J. Stroud was back last week, and the game looked different from the start for Houston. The rookie quarterback has been a game changer for Houston. Stroud has over 3,800 passing yards and 21 touchdowns, with just 5 interceptions on the season. The other guys that have thrown a pass this season for Houston have 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

His top target has been Nico Collins. Collins is over 1,000 yards, with 7 touchdowns. Tank Dell also has 7 touchdowns, but has missed the last five games with a season ending injury. Dalton Schultz is the top tight end on the roster, with five touchdown receptions on the season.

The Texans run game is anchored by Devin Singletary. He took over the starting role from Dameon Pierce. Singletary has 835 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season. Pearce has 145 carries, and just over 400 yards. Stroud has 147 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on the season as well.

Rookie Coach Leading Colts

The Colts have loved what they have seen from their head coach Shane Steichen.  The first year head coach has the team a win away from reaching the postseason.  The Colts are looking to sweep the season series. The Colts won the Week 2 game 31-20, despite Stroud throwing for 384 passing yards in the game.

Indianapolis saw Anthony Richardson play four games this season, and complete 50 of 84 passes. Since then, Gardner Minshew has come in and thrown for nearly 3,200 yards and 15 touchdowns. Michael Pittman Jr has been the top threat for the Colts, with 1,108 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The run game for Indianapolis has been strong. Jonathan Taylor has played in 9 of the 16 Colts games this season, with 139 carries and 553 yards. Between him and Zack Moss, they have 11 of the team’s 18 rushing touchdowns. Trey Sermon has come in over the last few games and rushed for 160 yards.

Texans Stun Colts

This game is in Indianapolis, but not sure that is going to matter. We like the better quarterback in this game. The first time, Stroud was not strong, as the Colts won in Houston. Payback time for the young rookie quarterback. Stroud throws well, and the Houston offense wins this game.

The final bet to make in this game is the Houston Texans +1 over the Indianapolis Colts. The Texans reach the postseason, and Indianapolis goes home for the 2023-2024 season. Enjoy the game and good luck!
