Los Angeles Lakers at Indiana Pacers Betting Preview

After winning four of their last five contests, the Indiana Pacers will host the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night. It won’t be an easy feat for the Pacers to make it five out of six, as the Lake Show heads to Indiana with a 24-3 overall record. The Pacers are 18-9 headed into the matchup.
The Lakers’ record not only leads the Western Conference but also the NBA in general. The only other team with 24 wins is the Bucks in the East, but they have four losses.
The Pacers have been a pleasant surprise so far this season. They’re currently in sixth in the Eastern Conference. It looks to be head coach Nate McMillan’s best season since joining Indiana in 2016.
Lakers head coach and former Pacers head coach Frank Vogel is off to the best start of his career with a franchise. Kind of hard to beat three losses in your first 27 games. The Lakers are favored in this one by four points, with an over/under of 211.
The Show Once More
The predictable rise of the Lakers after the acquisition of Anthony Davis has been even more meteoric than anticipated. Davis leads the team in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals. With LeBron James leading the league in assists and Davis at his side, this team is basically unstoppable on both ends of the floor. While the Lakers will be without Kyle Kuzma Tuesday night, Davis also comes in questionable with a sprained ankle.
The Lakers come in with the eighth-ranked offense in the NBA, along with their defense, which ranks second. Outside of Davis and James, they also have Avery Bradley, Danny Green, and Rajon Rondo averaging over a steal per game. Rondo is probable for Tuesday night’s matchup. We’ll see what they can do offensively against a fifth-ranked Pacers defense.
Locking Down
The Pacers offense is by no means exciting, but it complements what they do on the defensive end of the floor well. And that’s been without Victor Oladipo. There is currently no timetable for Oladipo’s return, but added to what the Pacers have already become, he’ll make them even more of a contender upon his return.
Damontis Sabonis has become a walking double-double this season. He’s averaging 17.7 points and 13.5 rebounds per game, including 3.4 on the offensive end. Malcolm Brogdon has not only brought his lockdown defense into the 2019-20 season, but he’s averaging 19.1 points and 7.7 assists per game as well, leading the team in both categories. Myles Turner is bringing 2.4 blocks per game to the table as well.
Close, But No Cigar
This game could end up closer than anticipated, but it looks Iike Vegas anticipates that as well, which is why with the Pacers being at home, the spread is only four. These two teams have played very similar against the point spread this season, as the Lakers are 16-11, while the Pacers are 15-11-1.
The Pacers are, however, 8-5-1 against the spread at home this season, while the Lakers are 8-7 against the spread on the road. The pick here, while not an easy one, remains the favored Lakers. Los Angeles wins and covers the four, and it has me thinking about the under.
