Mattress Mack Places Another Huge Bet on the Houston Astros to Win the WS

“Mattress Mack” Jim McIngvale, the owner of the Houston furniture store, has placed another wager on the Houston Astros. As expected, it’s another multi-million bet on the Astros to win the World Series.

The Houston Astros are Off to a Good Start

The Houston Astros certainly lost some good players over the years, including players like George Springer and Carlos Correa. Still, the Astros have a solid lead over the Seattle Mariners and the other teams in the AL West.

Earlier in the week, “Mattress Mack” crossed state lines once again as Texas doesn’t have a legalized market as of yet. McIngvale went to Louisiana to place a bet on the World Series at the Barstool Sportsbook in the L’Auberge Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and the odds were set at +533.

Mclngvale is starting to become a regular customer in the Pelican State as he placed an ML wager on the Cincinnati Bengals at the Caesars Sportsbook location in the state a few months ago. He could have had two winning slips that night if he took the spread at +4 instead of the ML.

After betting $4 million to win $42 million in May, Mack has now bet $6 million to win $52.6 million if the Astros win the World Series. The Astros odds to win the WS have gotten less as the Los Angeles Angels went on a terrible 14-game losing streak and lost first place in the process.

The Angels have dropped to 4th in the division and are 20.5 games behind the Astros as the league is at the All-Star break.

Can the Astros Come Out on Top This Season?

The other wagers he placed on the Astros include $3 million to win $30 million at Caesars Sportsbook at 10/1 odds. Another bet on the team is a $1 million bet to win $12 million at WynnBET at 12/1 odds.

He tweeted that he recently tweeted he will give customers who buy $3,000 or more in furniture double their money back if the Astros win at all. If the Astros win, this will offset the potential losses that come with the marketing strategy in regards to his furniture store.

Over the years, the Astros have become a potent franchise that consistently makes the postseason. The Astros may make a splash at the trade deadline as teams like the New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers currently have better odds than the Astros.

One player that is garnering trade interest is Juan Soto, as he recently won the Home Run Derby. The two-time Silver Slugger and the Washington Nationals may look to part ways at the deadline as he turned down a contract extension and the Nationals refused to charter a flight.

Soto may shake up the World Series as teams like the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, Saint Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and a few other teams have the assets to trade for him.

The Astros are also interested in Cincinnati Reds starter Luis Castillo. Lance McCullers will also begin his rehab assignment as he makes a mid-August return to the team.

Residents in Texas Still Have to Travel to Place Wagers

The sports betting industry continues to expand into more states across the United States. The second most populous state in the United States doesn’t have a legal market which is costing the Lone Star State millions in potential revenue.

Texas has many professional and collegiate teams that would make the state a lucrative market. “Mattress Mack” could be a catalyst for pushing sports betting in the state because many residents have been using offshore sportsbooks to place throughout the year.
