NBA News and Notes: Hall of Fame Class Announced

Unfortunately, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, it appears there is some growing concern about whether the rest of the NBA season can be finished or not. One of the biggest concerns is that the Chinese Basketball Association, which has been ahead of the United States in terms of recovery, recently had to stop their plans to resume play after coronavirus issues resurfaced again.

Still, the hope remains that the season and postseason can be finished. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some of the other news from around the league.

Naismith Hall Of Fame Class Announced

The Hall of Fame class for 2020 has been announced, and there are a lot of amazing names included this year. Three of the most notable are five-time NBA champion and 18-time All-Star Kobe Bryant, five-time champion and 15-time All-Star Tim Duncan and 15-time All-Star and 2008 champion Kevin Garnett.

Also, former Rockets coach and All-Star Rudy Tomjanovich, four-time National Coach of the Year Eddie Sutton, WNBA star Tamika Catchings, Baylor women’s coach Kim Mulkey, Bentley women’s coach Barbara Stevens, and FIBA executive Patrick Baumann all got in.

Bulls Looking For New Voice

It appears the time of GarPax (Gar Forman and John Paxson) may be done, at least when it comes to basketball decisions for the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls announced that they have started their search for an executive to be in charge of basketball decisions.

It has not taken too long for them to get started, either. Reports from Adrian Wojnarowski indicate that the Bulls are looking to interview the Denver Nuggets’ general manager Arturas Karnisovas as well as the Toronto Raptors’ general manager Bobby Webster.

Furthermore, K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune reports that the Bulls will also interview the Indianapolis Pacers’ general manager Chad Buchanan, while Shams Charania of The Athletic reports they will also interview Miami Heat assistant general manager Adam Simon.

According to Wojnarowski, it does appear that they want to move quickly and have some resolution before play picks back up (whenever that may be). Regardless, with some talented players on the roster and the history that the Bulls’ franchise offers, it certainly will be a prestigious job, one that many would envy having.

Want To Play Some H-O-R-S-E?

Apparently, the NBA and ESPN are exploring it. As a way to give some sports to the people of the United States and to have some fun, the league is exploring the notion of having players play H-O-R-S-E against one another. To abide by recommendations of social distancing, the competitors would do so remotely at their own courts.

Still, as a way of keeping some intrigue and having some fun, it could be a really good idea, especially if the NBA can get some of its biggest stars to participate.

Can you imagine Stephen Curry taking on James Harden or Kawhi Leonard taking on LeBron James?

While it remains to be seen whether it comes to fruition, the concept itself is intriguing (especially if individuals have the opportunity to bet on the matchups). Regardless, it is a way to bring back some nostalgia as people can reminisce about the days they would play at home or on the school playground.

For me, it brings back memories of the famous Michael Jordan vs. Larry Bird commercial where they were playing for a Big Mac. Now that is a matchup I would truly love to see!
